PeoItaly is seeking an experienced MEP Lead for a flagship data centre project in the Milan area. The role involves guiding complex mechanical and electrical systems from coordinated design through installation, testing, commissioning and final handover, reporting to the client’s senior delivery team.

PeoItaly, an employment agency authorised by the Italian Ministry of Labour, is conducting this search for a confidential international general contractor with an established track record in the turnkey delivery of mission‑critical Data Centres across Europe.

The selected professional will be employed directly by the client and become part of the senior delivery team working on a major Data Centre development in the Milan area.

This site-based position offers an experienced MEP Lead the opportunity to guide complex mechanical and electrical systems from coordinated design through installation, testing, commissioning and final handover.

The role sits at the centre of project execution, connecting engineering requirements with construction priorities and ensuring that multidisciplinary teams and specialist subcontractors remain aligned throughout delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day activities of the mechanical and electrical engineering and construction teams.
• Oversee the progression of MEP systems across design coordination, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning.
• Set technical priorities, define resource needs and establish clear delivery targets.
• Examine drawings, specifications, technical submittals and RFIs to ensure that information is complete and suitable for construction.
• Convert design intent into practical work packages, coordinated sequences and achievable site activities.
• Detect technical discrepancies, interface clashes, construction constraints and emerging programme risks.
• Align MEP activities with CSA readiness, planning requirements, QA/QC procedures, EHS standards and commissioning milestones.
• Track site progress, material availability, workforce requirements and subcontractor output.
• Verify that mechanical and electrical installations are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
• Provide technical input into change control, variations and the evaluation of programme and commercial consequences.
• Drive systems through completion, testing, commissioning preparation, documentation and handover.
• Encourage a delivery culture centred on safety, reliability, quality and efficient use of project resources.

Candidate profile

We are interested in candidates with:

• A degree in Engineering or an appropriate technical qualification.
• A strong track record of directing MEP teams and packages on technically demanding construction projects.
• Practical and technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services.
• Experience across the full delivery cycle, including design coordination, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning.
• The confidence to manage specialist subcontractors and maintain control of multidisciplinary interfaces.
• A decisive leadership style, supported by strong planning, communication and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• An understanding of how technical decisions and design changes can affect programme, quality, safety and project costs.
• Professional working proficiency in English.
• Availability to work on‑site in the Milan area.
• Previous involvement in Data Centre or mission‑critical project delivery.
