Belcan in Naples, Italy, is seeking a Mechanical Design & R&D Engineer to lead end-to-end development of automated machinery for the food industry across Europe.

You’ll own concepts, create 3D models in SolidWorks, run prototyping and testing, and collaborate with international teams to deliver robust, high-performance solutions.

Competenze

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics or a related discipline.
• Proven experience designing and developing automated machinery or special-purpose equipment.
• Strong proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD; Creo Parametric experience is advantageous.

Mansioni

Mechanical Design Engineer

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design R&D Engineer to join an innovative organisation developing advanced automated machinery for the food industry across Europe.

This is a hands‑on engineering role where you’ll take ownership of new product development from concept through to design, prototyping, testing and validation. Working within an international engineering environment, you’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across Europe and Asia to deliver robust, high‑performance automation solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll play a key role in the development and continuous improvement of automated machinery used within the food sector, including:

• Designing and optimising automated machinery and mechanical systems for customer‑focused projects across Europe.
• Leading mechanical development activities from concept through design, prototyping, testing and implementation.
• Creating detailed 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Working closely with automation engineers to ensure seamless mechanical integration and successful equipment commissioning.
• Supporting prototype construction, testing, validation and industrial field trials.
• Analysing performance data, identifying technical issues and implementing design improvements.
• Collaborating with manufacturing teams and suppliers to ensure designs are correctly produced and assembled.
• Producing high-quality technical documentation, test reports and engineering records.

Experience & Skills

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
• Proven experience designing and developing automated machinery or special‑purpose equipment.
• Background within customised automation solutions such as material handling, logistics systems, filling, weighing, palletising, de‑palletising, stacking, case packing or packaging equipment.
• Strong proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Experience with PTC Creo Parametric would be advantageous.
• Ability to independently manage product development projects from concept through to validation.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding and assembly.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Methodical approach with excellent attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills within an international environment.
• Willingness to participate in testing, commissioning and occasional travel.
• Fluent Italian and/or Spanish language skills.
