ConSol Partners seeks a Senior Microsoft 365 / Entra ID Engineer in Italy to oversee administration, support, and optimisation of Microsoft 365 environments across Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID and related security/compliance tools.

The role involves working with the Digital Services and Messaging teams to support enterprise environments, with an initial 6-month engagement and on-call involvement as needed.

Senior Microsoft 365 / Entra ID Engineer

Italy

We are looking for a Microsoft 365 specialist with strong expertise across enterprise messaging, collaboration and identity services. The role will focus on the ongoing administration, support and optimisation of Microsoft 365 environments, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID and associated security and compliance technologies.

The successful consultant will work closely with the wider Digital Services and Messaging team, supporting enterprise environments and collaborating with technical teams across the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Manage and administer the global Microsoft 365 tenant and its associated services.
• Maintain and configure M365 and Entra ID policies, ensuring alignment with governance requirements and Microsoft best practices.
• Administer key Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Purview.
• Manage the provisioning and lifecycle of Entra ID objects, including users, guests, security groups, roles, enterprise applications, mail-enabled objects and Microsoft 365 licences.
• Manage email routing, message hygiene, anti-spam and anti-malware controls, quarantine and mail relay services.
• Configure and support online archiving, retention and compliance policies, including Persistent Hold and Advanced eDiscovery capabilities.
• Support data recovery and investigate complex messaging and compliance-related issues.
• Carry out advanced message tracing and troubleshoot non-delivery and mail flow issues.
• Configure and maintain identity security controls, including Defender for Identity, SSO, MFA, Conditional Access and RBAC.
• Implement and manage Entra ID Identity Governance capabilities, including Entitlement Management, Privileged Identity Management (PIM) and Access Reviews.
• Provide technical support and assistance to end users, including users working from remote locations.
• Participate in an on-call support rota outside standard working hours.
• Undertake additional M365, messaging and identity-related activities as required.

Required Technical Experience

The successful candidate should have:

• At least 4 years' experience managing, operating and maintaining large-scale, multi-site and complex messaging and identity environments.
• At least 1 year of experience working directly with customers on Microsoft Cloud and Microsoft 365 solutions and deployments.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Purview.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Entra ID within complex enterprise environments, including Entra Domain Services, B2B/B2C, Identity Protection, Identity Governance, SSO, MFA and application registration.
• Strong scripting experience, particularly PowerShell and Microsoft Graph, with the ability to automate administrative and operational processes across Entra ID, Exchange Online and other Microsoft 365 services.
• Experience or exposure to migration projects, including transitions from on-premise environments to Microsoft 365 and/or tenant-to-tenant migrations.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Additional Experience – Desirable

• Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM), including ISO 20000 and the ITIL framework.
• Familiarity with enterprise management and monitoring platforms such as SCOM.
• Understanding of industry-standard IT service management and operational best practices.
