Eutelsat is seeking an experienced modem architect to own the physical layer for next‑gen LEO/multi‑orbit terminals, driving requirements, modeling performance, and challenging design choices with external partners. You will lead the complex PHY development from concept to silicon acceptance and help build the in‑house competence for future platforms.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in signal processing, digital communications, telecommunications or electronics;
• 12+ years in digital modem or wireless physical layer engineering with silicon/FPGA experience;
• Deep expertise in synchronisation and estimation theory for real receivers;
• Practical command of forward error correction: LDPC, turbo or polar decoding;
• Heads‑on experience of programmable PHY platforms and their SDKs;
• Proven fixed‑point design experience and quantisation assessment

Responsabilités

• Master the platform hands‑on: SDK and toolchain, PHY architecture, scheduling and inter‑processor communication.
• Own the terminal physical layer requirements and their traceability from service constraints to waveform parameters.
• Assess and challenge the receive chain design: acquisition at low SNR, CFO/SFO estimation, timing recovery and phase tracking.
• Verify the coding scheme: code family, decoder mapping, iteration budget and BLER relative to capacity.
• Scrutinise the transmit chain: pulse shaping, spectral mask, EVM, and budgets from baseband to antenna.
• Interrogate Doppler, delay and mobility strategy, GNSS aided pre‑compensation and tight timing control.
• Review timing/clocking architecture and gate it to targets (PLL, jitter, SYSREF, GNSS handling).
• Audit fixed point design and implementation loss versus floating point reference.
• Lead architecture reviews with partner teams and ensure transfer of know‑how.
