Britoil Offshore Services SRL, based in Genoa, seeks an experienced HSEQ Superintendent to drive the Safety Management System across vessels and shore teams in accordance with ISM/ISPS and MLC. The role focuses on audits, inspections, risk assessments, and continuous improvement in HSEQ performance, reporting to the Regional HSEQ Manager.

Ideal candidates will have maritime HSEQ expertise, strong communication in English and Italian, and the ability to work independently with high accuracy.

Competenze

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as Deck/Engineering Officer or in shore-based HSEQ/Marine role.
• Strong understanding of HSEQ and operational matters.
• Solid knowledge of ISM Code, ISPS Code, and Maritime Labour Convention.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills in English and Italian.

JOB OVERVIEW

Britoil Offshore Services SRL (“BOS SRL”), based in Genoa, is the Italian Strategic Business Unit of the Britoil Group. BOS SRL manages a fleet of over 30 Offshore Supply Vessels (including PSVs and AHTSs) operating in the Mediterranean Sea, Africa, Red Sea, Black Sea, and North Sea.

POSITION: HSEQ Superintendent (Permanent) / Genoa - Italy

We are seeking an experienced HSEQ Superintendent with a strong background in the shipping industry to join our HSEQ & Operations Team in Genoa. In this role, you will contribute to the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Company's Safety Management System in accordance with the requirements of the ISM Code, ISPS Code, MLC Convention and other applicable maritime regulations. You will monitor HSEQ performance, follow up on audits and inspections, manage HSEQ records and reports, and assist vessels and shore personnel on HSEQ-related matters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

HSEQ Management & Compliance

• Support the implementation and maintenance of the Company's Safety Management System.
• Monitor compliance with Company procedures and applicable maritime regulations.
• Follow up on findings, observations and corrective actions arising from audits and inspections.
• Assist in the administration and maintenance of HSEQ documentation and records.
• Review and process HSEQ documentation, including Management of Change, Permit to Work, handovers and SMS review activities.
• Monitor Flag State circulars, industry guidance and regulatory updates.
• Prepare HSEQ communications and circulars as required.

Audits, Inspections & Vessel Support

• Support the planning and monitoring of the internal audit programme.
• Conduct internal audits onboard vessels and ashore when required.
• Provide support to vessels during external audits, inspections and certification activities.
• Participate in incident investigations and root cause analyses.
• Assist in the preparation and review of risk assessments.
• Monitor trends, safety observations and lessons learned to support continuous improvement.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

• Monitor HSEQ KPIs and statistical performance indicators.
• Review HSEQ reports from vessels, including incidents, near misses, safety meetings and Masters’ reviews.
• Assist in the preparation of HSEQ reports and management statistics.
• Complete HSEQ sections of client questionnaires, pre-qualification documents and tender submissions.

You will be part of the HSEQ & Operations Team and report to the Regional HSEQ Manager.

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL INTERFACES

• Internal: Technical, Crewing, Operations and Chartering departments
• External: Flag State Administrations, Suppliers, Classification Societies

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will have:

• Relevant degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Quality Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Deck or Engineering Officer, or in a shore-based HSEQ / Marine role, is required.
• Strong understanding of HSEQ and operational matters
• Sound knowledge of ISM Code, ISPS Code, Maritime Labour Convention, internal audits, root cause analysis, risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation techniques and corrective action follow-up processes;
• Ability to work independently with high accuracy and efficiency
• Excellent communication and reporting skills in both English and Italian
