Overview

Amazon Logistics, or AMZL, handles ‘last mile’ delivery duties in partnership with third-party distribution businesses. We utilise creative thinking and continuous improvement initiatives to get millions of physical products into the hands of our customers. Keeping our people safe and well at work is a top priority at Amazon. We’re seeking a driven Workplace Health & Safety Manager to help us achieve these goals. You’ll drive improvements on-site and at a regional level, maintain high safety standards, and foster a culture of safety and inclusivity. The successful candidate will be an experienced, innovative and proactive individual who is passionate about Health and Safety in a professional context. You will need to identify, coordinate and drive improvements in safety, engaging operational and other support function stakeholders. You’ll report into the Regional Workplace Health and Safety Manager.

Key responsibilities
  • Assisting with the delivery of safety performance and monitoring, in line with personnel, team and functional goals and objectives. Ensuring that WHS systems are kept accurate at all times, with completed incident reports, alongside all supporting documentation.
  • Supporting the implementation of WHS programs within Operations, while delivering key risk assessment activities. Promoting compliance with local and EU legislation.
  • Contributing to requests for improvement of on-site safety and positively impact accident trends.
  • Manage your team on-site, whilst regularly collaborating with other teams across the company
  • Use internal reporting tools to analyse data reports and root causes that provide leadership with the information they need to make safety related decisions
  • Provide guidance and arrangements for health and safety projects and policies
  • Drive programmes designed to improve the safety culture in Amazon
Safety audits and site coverage
  • Participating in the Safety Audit Programs.
  • Arranging and conducting basic surveys and checks in the Delivery stations environment, looking into facility processes, Health and Safety supplies as well as employee behaviors.
  • Flexibility to travel to support at different locations in Italy as needed (position requires maximum 50% travel time with on-site auditing responsibilities).

Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) plays a crucial role in keeping our people mentally and physically well at work. Our team works with managers, associates and local governments across our sites, ensuring compliance with Amazon’s policies and legal regulations, and that our workplaces are safe. There are a range of opportunities within the team, from Health and Safety Technicians to Program Managers. You’ll contribute to developing, implementing and upholding our high safety and wellbeing standards, working on projects alongside colleagues from across the business, from equipment and process inspections to assessing processes, building and equipment design.

Basic Qualifications
  • Education to a degree level and ASPP or RSPP certified
  • Relevant experience managing a team
  • Relevant experience complying with local Health and Safety legislation
  • Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English and the local language
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Lean, 5S and Kaizen methodologies
  • Qualifications or experience in the field of sustainability
  • Relevant experience of communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership
  • Chartered membership of a Human Resources industry body (e.g., IOSH) to support people management
