Job summary

Starr Italy seeks a General Liability Underwriting Manager / Senior Underwriter to lead underwriting and binding new business in Milan. The role focuses on marketing Starr’s General Liability line to broker partners, evaluating submissions, and negotiating terms aligned with the Italian Branch Office’s objectives.

The candidate will develop local policy wordings, drive profitable portfolio growth, and ensure risk controls within Starr’s appetite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Risk Management, Insurance or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience underwriting Commercial General Liability risks with a track record of profitability.
• Fluency in Italian and English, with strong communication skills.
• Strong ability to work independently, manage priorities, and exercise sound underwriting judgement.

Responsibilities

• Drive marketing and development of Starr’s General Liability proposition with broker partners in Italy.
• Review and assess renewal and new business submissions with risk exposure analyses.
• Prepare and negotiate quotations and bind risks within Starr’s guidelines.
• Develop and maintain locally compliant policy wordings, endorsements, and underwriting docs.
• Enhance Starr’s General Liability offering by identifying market opportunities and building a profitable portfolio.
• Monitor underwriting performance, profitability, and portfolio composition against objectives.
