Fidia Farmaceutici, headquartered in Abano Terme, Italy, seeks a senior professional to coordinate the formulation development of semi-solid and liquid topical and ophthalmic products. You will lead formulation teams, ensure scientific quality, and collaborate with discovery and CDMO/CRO partners.

The role requires 5+ years in cosmetics/pharma formulation, leadership of projects, and deep knowledge of EU cosmetics regulations (EC 1223/2009) and MDR 2017/745, with excellent English communication.

Competenze

• Degree in Pharmacy or Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology; postgraduate specialization is an advantage.
• Five years of experience in formulation development of cosmetics, medical devices and/or medicinal products in semi-solid and liquid dosage forms.
• Two years' experience leading cosmetics and food supplements development projects.
• Advanced knowledge of cosmetic design and development per Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 and MDR 2017/745; ICH Q8(R2).
• Excellent written and spoken English; strong determination, leadership and problem-solving skills.

To strengthen our Formulation Development team, which is part of our Corporate R&D department, we are recruiting a

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the formulation and development of semi-solid and liquid preparations, and for leading project teams for cosmetics and food supplements.

Main responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the design and development of formulations and laboratory-scale processes for semi-solid preparations for topical applications and liquid preparations for ophthalmic or injectable use, including medicinal products, leading a team including at least one formulation scientist.
• Act as the primary technical point of reference for formulation development activities, ensuring scientific and technical consistency and quality.
• Coordinate and supervise the design, formulation testing and evaluation of preliminary stability data to finalize the final composition, in collaboration with Formulation development experts and Discovery department.
• Supervise the technology transfer of production processes from laboratory to pilot scale.
• Lead formulation and pre-industrial development for cosmetics and food supplements, in collaboration with suitable CDMO or CRO.
• Identify and evaluate innovative raw materials, packaging and formulation solutions for the development of new drug products, medical devices, cosmetics and food supplements.
• Actively contribute to patent applications for new formulations, products or processes; participate in congresses or product launch kick-off meetings as the principal formulation scientist.
• Prepare suitable documentation for outsourced projects, such as design inputs, formulation and pre-industrial development plans, product specifications, stability plans, timelines (Gantt) and review technical documentation received from subcontractors for these projects, such as PIF, Product Dossier or characterization tests protocols and reports.
• Lead cosmetics and food supplements development project teams, ensuring compliance with planned activities/timelines, relevant regulations and internal procedures.

Requirements

• Degree in Pharmacy or in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology. A postgraduate specialization in cosmetic science and technology and/or pharmaceutical development will be considered an advantage.
• Five years' experience in the formulation development of cosmetics, medical devices and/or medicinal products in semi-solid and liquid dosage forms.
• Two years' experience in the design and development of cosmetics and food supplements as a project leader.
• Advanced knowledge of cosmetic design and development according to Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 and subsequent amendments.
• Basic knowledge of the design and development of medical devices according to MDR 2017/745 and of medicinal products according to ICH Q8(R2).
• Highly proficient in both spoken and written English.
• Determination, leadership and problem-solving skills.
