Job summary

Sosteneo Infrastructure Partners invites applications for a Financial Controller to join the Milan team from January 2027. You will support financial monitoring, reporting and compliance for portfolio assets, working with the Asset Management Team and external providers to ensure timely, accurate financial information.

The role requires 6–8 years in financial reporting and accounting, with strong collaboration skills and experience in financial services or asset management.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of relevant experience in financial reporting, management accounting and audit support, including experience with external providers.
• Broad accounting experience, ideally in financial services or supporting portfolio assets.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and outsourced providers, deliver accurate and timely analysis, and raise complex matters appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Financial reporting and controls: review reporting packs and workpapers for completeness, accuracy and consistency; ensure policy adherence.
• Budgeting and performance monitoring: contribute to budgets/forecasts, review assumptions, draft variance analyses for senior review.
• Cash flow and payments: forecast cash flow, assist with banking portal administration, process payments per procedures and approvals.
• Audit support: coordinate information with stakeholders and service providers, track findings, escalate issues.
• Financing compliance: monitor financing agreements, covenants and lender reporting, prepare compliance certificates.
• Asset onboarding: support onboarding of new assets with Finance Director and Asset Management.

Sosteneo is looking for a Financial Controller to join its Milan team starting from January 2027. Working closely with the Asset Management Team, you will support the financial monitoring, reporting and compliance activities of portfolio assets, helping ensure that financial information is accurate, timely and reliable.

The opportunity

This is a hands-on role for a finance professional with 5–8 years of relevant experience. You will work with internal stakeholders, external asset managers and outsourced finance, accounting and tax providers to review financial information and support day-to-day finance activities. You will contribute analysis, coordinate follow-up and elevate complex matters appropriately.

What you will do

• Financial reporting and controls: support the review of reporting packs and supporting workpapers prepared by external providers, checking completeness, accuracy and consistency; monitor adherence to group policies and escape exceptions.
• Budgeting and performance monitoring: contribute to annual budgets and periodic forecasts, review assumptions with the team and external providers, and prepare draft variance analyses and commentary for senior review.
• Cash flow and payments: support cash flow forecasting, assist with banking portal administration under supervision, and help prepare and follow up payments in line with approved procedures and authorisation levels.
• Audit support: coordinate audit information with internal stakeholders and service providers, gather and review deliverables, and track outstanding findings, escalating issues where required.
• Financing compliance: assist with monitoring financing agreements, financial covenants and lender reporting obligations, including the preparation and review of compliance certificates under senior guidance.
• Asset onboarding: support the finance onboarding of newly acquired assets alongside the Finance Director, Asset Management Team and external providers.

What you will bring

• 6–8 years of relevant experience in financial reporting, management accounting and audit support, including experience working with external service providers.
• Broad accounting experience, ideally gained in financial services or in supporting the financial management of portfolio assets.
• The ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and outsourced providers, deliver accurate and timely analysis, and raise complex matters appropriately.

Preferred qualifications and experience

• A relevant qualification in accounting, finance or a related discipline; CA, CPA or an international equivalent is preferred.
• Working knowledge of tax, financing arrangements and loan compliance.
• Experience in infrastructure, renewable energy, project finance or a similar asset-intensive industry.

The role is offered within Impiegati area, under the National Collective Labour Agreement for the Banking Sector (CCNL Credito). The starting gross annual salary is € 50.000. The final offer will be aligned with the candidate’s professional experience, technical and soft skills relevant to the role and may include an individual variable compensation component.
