Turner & Townsend are leaders in professional services to the Data Centre sector globally. We are recruiting an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join our Data Centre team in Milan.

Qualifications

• University degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience delivering large, complex electrical installations and commissioning activities.
• Strong technical expertise in data-centre electrical systems (HV/MV/LV, substations, switchgear, life-safety).
• Experience managing energy sources in critical environments.
• Leadership and coordination with multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to audit onsite practices against standards and interpret schematics.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support planning of energy isolation activities for construction and commissioning works.
• Oversee identification, isolation, and control of hazardous energy sources.
• Supervise electrical installations including MV/LV, substations and associated systems.
• Verify contractor compliance with LOTO, Permit-to-Work and safety procedures.
• Ensure compliance with program terms, regulatory requirements and safety standards.
• Conduct site audits and inspections to align with safety practices.

Job Description

Turner & Townsend are leaders in professional services to the Data Centre sector globally. Due to the continued success and expansion of our Data Centre business in Italy we are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join our Data Centre team in Milan.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support planning of energy isolation activities for construction and commissioning works.
• Oversee the identification, isolation, and control of hazardous energy sources.
• Oversee electrical system installations, including substation, transformers, switchrooms, MV & LV, life safety and all electrical associated systems.
• Verify contractor compliance with approved LOTO, Permit-to-Work, and electrical safety procedures.
• Ensure program requirements, contract terms and conditions, and applicable regulatory requirements are followed.
• Carry out site audits and inspections to confirm alignment with safety standards and work practices.
• Manage and supervise electrical subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers, ensuring that work is completed to specification and safety standards.
• Full-time on-site presence to conduct inspections and supervise construction activities.
• Ensure construction activities are in full compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety protocols.
• Support planning and execution of high-risk activities involving hazardous energy.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting on electrical system installations, ensuring that all work is completed as per the contract documents and specifications.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert on energy isolation, providing advice and guidance to site teams and assist with non-standard or incident situations.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying gaps, risks, and corrective actions.

Qualifications

• University degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent, recognised qualification.
• Proven experience delivering large, complex electrical installations and commissioning activities, including MV switching and DC construction and commissioning standards and practices.
• Strong technical expertise in data-center-related electrical systems, including HV/MV/LV distribution, substations, switchgear, control systems, life-safety systems, and energy management systems.
• Experience managing multiple energy sources within data center or mission-critical environments.
• Multi-year experience working as a Authorised Person, responsible for electrical distribution and switching operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, driving continuous improvement.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven capability to audit onsite practices against written standards as part of an assurance or compliance role.
• Excellent ability to interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and system redundancies, ensuring LOTO system designs are fully effective and compliant with required standards.
• Availability for on-site work.
