  • Plan, execute and evaluate calibration in diverse environments (test tracks, benches, SIL).
  • Document calibration parameters and results, present findings to customers.
  • Develop methods and tools for calibration tasks and support project planning.

A Diesel Calibration Engineer independently handles the calibration and optimization of control units for various vehicle systems (e.g., powertrain, ADAS, chassis, E/E, etc.) to meet legal requirements and customer demands. For powertrain applications, the role is primarily focused on diesel engine calibration, including performance optimization, fuel consumption improvement, emissions compliance, and aftertreatment system calibration. This job includes the independent planning, execution, and evaluation of calibration functions in different calibration environments (e.g., test track, engine and powertrain test benches, software in the loop environment, etc.).

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Independent calibration of control unit functions for various vehicle systems (powertrain, ADAS, chassis, E/E, etc.), with a strong focus on diesel engine management systems.
  • Independent planning, execution, and evaluation of calibration functions in different calibration environments.
  • Calibration and optimization of diesel engine functions, including combustion, air path, fuel injection, torque control, emissions, and aftertreatment systems, to achieve customer and legislative targets.
  • Independent creation of documentation for calibration parameters and measurement results.
  • Independent presentation of results to the customer.
  • Independent development of innovative methods and tools for calibration tasks.
  • Support for the project manager and logistics in planning calibration activities.
  • Support in creating and implementing patent ideas.
  • Participation in tests and customer meetings.

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Secondary college for technical education, or a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automotive engineering, energy engineering, propulsion systems engineering, or similar fields, preferably with a focus on internal combustion engines and powertrain systems.
  • Driver's license for cars is advantageous.
  • Several years of experience in the application and validation of control unit functions.
  • Several years of experience in diesel engine calibration, ECU application, and validation activities on engine test benches, powertrain test benches, and/or vehicle testing.
  • Experience in the calibration of diesel combustion, air handling systems, fuel injection systems, torque management, emissions control, and aftertreatment functions.
  • Good understanding of diesel engine development processes, emissions legislation, and exhaust aftertreatment technologies.
  • Good understanding of different vehicle systems (powertrain, ADAS, chassis, E/E, etc.).
  • English language skills (very good).
  • Mastery of comprehensive coordination activities.
  • Strong communication skills, team spirit, and interest in working in international teams.
  • Strong analytical skills in evaluating engine performance, fuel consumption, emissions, and transient behavior to achieve calibration targets.
