Job summary

Lexroom in Milan is seeking a Data Engineer to own and enhance the pipelines behind our legal knowledge base and document processing. You will partner with Product, AI Engineering, and Legal Engineering to scale our data platform.

We expect 4+ years in Data Engineering, strong Python, and experience with ETL, databases, and cloud infrastructure. Hybrid work is available in Milan, with equity and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on Data Engineering experience in fast-growing tech or AI environments.
• Proficient Python and scalable ETL pipeline design and execution.
• SQL/NoSQL databases, object storage, and vector databases experience.
• Cloud data infrastructure knowledge; GCP preferred, AWS/Azure acceptable.
• Experience with monitoring and owning production pipelines end-to-end.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Milan; fluent in English and Italian.

Responsibilities

• Legal Data Infrastructure: Manage and improve the infrastructure behind our legal database: case law, regulations, legal documents, and the links between sources.
• Document Processing Pipelines: Build and improve pipelines processing user documents from OCR to context extraction, metadata tagging, and anonymization.
• Data Security & Privacy: Ensure files uploaded to private user libraries are handled securely and in line with privacy standards.
• Reliability & Monitoring: Own pipeline health end to end, with monitoring, alerting, and data quality checks.
• Scale & Performance: Optimize pipelines for large data volumes and propose architectural changes.
