Job summary

Tecnimont, MAIRE’s flagship for Integrated E&C, seeks a Construction Subcontracts Manager to lead subcontracting activities across projects in Italy. You will manage tendering, bid evaluation, and contract negotiations with subcontractors, coordinating with Engineering, Procurement, and Legal to ensure compliant, winning outcomes.

The role requires 8+ years in subcontracting within EPC contexts, a civil or mechanical engineering background, and fluent English.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (or technical diploma with relevant experience).
• Proven experience (at least 8 years) in construction subcontracting management, preferably within EPC companies.
• Strong knowledge of subcontracting processes, including tendering, bid evaluation, negotiation, and contract management.
• Good understanding of project technical documentation (specifications, drawings, schedules, budgets).
• Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
• Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Tecnimont is looking for a Construction Subcontracts Manager to join the “Construction & Subcontracting” Function.

Key Responsibilities:

During project execution, the Construction Subcontracts Manager is responsible for:

• Ensuring the effective management of all subcontracting activities related to construction, in compliance with company and project procedures (e.g. Project Execution Plan, Construction Execution Plan, contractual requirements);
• Preparing, obtaining approvals for, and issuing the Subcontracting Strategy, including the Subcontracting Plan, Subcontractors List and Bidder List;
• Coordinating the verification of completeness, clarity and consistency of technical and commercial documentation (Work Specifications, technical requirements, schedules and budgets), ensuring alignment with subcontracting documents;
• Managing the full tendering process towards subcontractors, including preparation of inquiry documentation, NDA collection, issuance of inquiries, and tracking of tender status;
• Coordinating the bid evaluation process (technical and commercial), ensuring proper distribution of offers to the relevant functions and consolidation of feedback;
• Leading the economic and commercial negotiation phases with subcontractors, ensuring continuous update and alignment of offers;
• Supervising the preparation, approval, and formal issuance of subcontracts, ensuring proper authorization workflow and distribution to stakeholders;
• Maintaining and updating a structured database of subcontract technical and commercial data to support future projects;
• Supporting the resolution of claims and contractual clarifications related to subcontract agreements, in coordination with Contract Management;
• Collaborating with proposal and construction teams during the estimating phase, contributing to subcontractor selection, quotation collection, and pre-award negotiations;
• Monitoring subcontracting risks and criticalities, ensuring timely communication to Project Management and proposing corrective actions;
• Liaising with internal stakeholders (Engineering, Procurement, Project Control, Legal) and external parties (subcontractors, vendors);
• Promoting continuous improvement by capturing best practices and lessons learned in subcontracting activities.

Requirements and Skills

• Degree in Civil, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (or technical diploma with relevant experience);
• Proven experience (at least 8 years) in construction subcontracting management, preferably within EPC companies;
• Strong knowledge of subcontracting processes, including tendering, bid evaluation, negotiation, and contract management;
• Good understanding of project technical documentation (specifications, drawings, schedules, budgets);
• Fluent in English (both written and spoken);
• Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Ability to manage complex activities and multiple stakeholders in a structured manner;
• Detail-oriented, methodical, and results-driven approach;
• Proactive mindset, adaptability, and teamwork attitude;
• Previous experience in EPC projects is considered a plus.

Compensation

The initial gross annual salary for this position, paid over 14 monthly installments, will be € 57.000.

The compensation package will include the applicable elements of the Collective Agreement as well as benefits provided under company agreements, including flexible benefits and a participation bonus.

Any additional variable components and/or benefits, regulated by Standards, Policies and/or company agreements, will be illustrated during the selection process.
