Job summary

The World Food Programme seeks a Chief of Branch for the Legal Office (LEG) to lead the employment and administrative law portfolio at GHQ. You will shape legal strategy, supervise senior staff, and provide authoritative advice on staff rules, disciplinary matters and complex personnel issues.

Based in Rome, you will coordinate with internal clients and external counsel, drive risk management, and ensure quality legal outputs across workstreams while supporting policy development and

Qualifications

• Education: Advanced law degree and bar admission.
• At least 11 years of legal experience in employment and administrative law.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language or Portuguese is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the LEGA branch, setting priorities and coordinating staff.
• Provide authoritative legal advice on staff rules and employment law.
• Lead litigation strategy and coordination of proceedings.
• Coordinate cross-functional work with other divisions and UN system.
