FairPlay Engineering in the Netherlands is seeking a Cable Engineer to lead HV cable projects from route studies through detailed underground connections. You will work independently within multidisciplinary projects for network operators and large commercial clients, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

You will act as the technical contact, ensure designs meet standards, and support the project from basic design to execution design, reporting to the Engineering Team Leader.

Competenze

• Bachelor-level degree in Electrical Engineering or Energy Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years' experience with high voltage cables and route engineering.
• Knowledge of IEC and NEN standards and relevant regulations.
• Strong analytical and data-driven problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently in multidisciplinary projects.
• Fluent in English, written and spoken.

Vacancy Information

As Cable Engineer, you will work on high voltage cable projects from route studies through to detailed underground cable connection designs. You will operate independently within multidisciplinary projects for network operators and large commercial clients, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining the technical quality of the design throughout.

You will serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, internal colleagues, and external parties on all cable engineering activities. This includes coordinating with municipalities, water boards, provinces, and cable and pipeline owners to ensure a well-supported cable route. You will support the Technical Manager across all project phases from basic design through to detailed and execution design, reporting to the Engineering Team Leader.

Key Responsibilities

• Performing cable route studies and designing underground high voltage cable connections for HV substations and related infrastructure.
• Preparing or supervising the preparation of technical documentation including route drawings, work packages, execution drawings, and engineering calculations.
• Translating functional requirements and Systems Engineering documentation into practical and realisable cable designs.
• Performing and reviewing cable calculations covering electrical, thermal, mechanical, and short circuit calculations for HV cables as well as drilling, excavation, and cable pulling calculations.
• Monitoring the technical quality of designs, calculations, and drawings and verifying these against applicable standards, guidelines, and contractual requirements.
• Acting as the technical point of contact for clients, internal colleagues, and external parties for all cable engineering activities.
• Coordinating with municipalities, water boards, provinces, and cable and pipeline owners to establish and maintain a supported cable route.
• Contributing to knowledge sharing and process improvement within the engineering team.

What You Need

• Bachelor level education through formal qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience, with a completed degree in Electrical Engineering or Energy Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with high voltage cables, route engineering, and relevant installation techniques.
• Knowledge of and experience with applicable standards including IEC and NEN as well as relevant regulations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to distinguish priorities from secondary matters and find effective, data-driven solutions.
• The ability to work independently, take initiative, and carry responsibility for tasks and projects within a multidisciplinary environment.
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to share technical information clearly across internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience with Systems Engineering, verification and validation processes, and basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D are considered strong advantages.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
