Job summary

European Investment Bank (EIB) seeks an Associate Water Sector Specialist for its Water Division in Luxembourg. The role supports appraisal and monitoring of water and sanitation investments inside and outside the EU, contributing to sustainable infrastructure aligned with climate and development goals.

The position is full-time, grade 4, with a 3-year contract term. Regular office presence is required, and relocation support is offered. Travel outside the EU is anticipated.

Qualifications

• University degree in a relevant field.
• At least 3 years of relevant water sector experience.
• Willingness to travel outside the EU.
• Excellent knowledge of English and/or French, good command of the other.

Responsibilities

• Support identification and early screening of water and sanitation projects.
• Assess technical and operational soundness, including climate and environmental sustainability.
• Contribute to project appraisal and monitoring in line with EIB standards.
• Prepare input on investment proposals and coordinate with external consultants.
• Engage with EC counterparts, other financial institutions and stakeholders.
