Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking an Application Specialist – ESS Centrifugal Solutions in Vignate, Italy, to develop and present competitive centrifugal compressor solutions for Petrochemical, Air Separation, Power, and Oil & Gas industries. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in Application Engineering, Tendering, or related roles involving engineered equipment.
• Familiarity with API 672, API 617, API 614 is advantageous.
• Experience with centrifugal compressor technology and related systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop competitive technical and commercial proposals with defined scope and pricing inputs.
• Review specs, process data, and commercial terms to identify risks and optimization opportunities.
• Serve as technical interface to Sales and customers during quotation, providing guidance and timely responses.
• Define proposal strategies with sales to strengthen competitive positioning and profitability.
• Maintain knowledge of centrifugal compression technologies and key markets for customer discussions.

Job Summary

The Application Specialist will support the ESS Centrifugal Solutions business by developing competitive, technically robust proposals for engineered centrifugal compressor solutions serving the Petrochemical, Air Separation, Power Generation, and Oil & Gas industries.

This role will work closely with Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Project Management, suppliers, and customers to translate complex customer requirements into clear technical and commercial solutions that support win rate, profitability, and customer value.

The position combines technical application expertise, proposal ownership, cross-functional coordination, and commercial awareness, offering strong exposure to global EPCs, strategic customers, and complex engineered project opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Develop competitive technical and commercial proposals, including scope definition, pricing inputs, delivery assumptions, clarifications, deviations, documentation requirements, and third-party supplier content.
• Review customer specifications, process data, contractual inputs, and commercial conditions to identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for optimized equipment selection and proposal strategy.
• Act as a key technical interface for Sales and customers during the quotation phase, providing application guidance, technical explanations, and timely responses to customer.
• Define proposal strategies with the sales team to strengthen competitive positioning, improve customer alignment, and maximize the probability of profitable order capture.
• Build and maintain application knowledge of centrifugal compression technologies, auxiliary systems, and key vertical markets to support customer discussions, technical meetings, project handovers, and internal knowledge sharing.
• Coordinate with Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Project Management, and external suppliers to align technical feasibility, commercial commitments, delivery expectations, and project execution requirements.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of AI-based tools and digital solutions to streamline the tendering process, enhance proposal quality, and reduce quotation lead time.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in Application Engineering, Contract Engineering, Product Management, Technical Sales, Tendering, or a related role involving engineered equipment.
• Solid understanding of customer specifications, industry standards, engineering codes, and technical documentation, with the ability to develop clear comments, clarifications, and deviations. Familiarity with API 672, API 617, and API 614 is an added advantage.
• Working knowledge of centrifugal compressor technology and auxiliary systems; experience with rotating equipment, Air Separation, Petrochemical, Power Generation, or Oil & Gas applications is preferred.

Salary Range
