Job summary

Certilogo, an eBay company, is hiring in Milan for a full-time AI/ML Engineer to design, prototype and productionize AI-based solutions for authentication and digital product experiences. About the team and the role Certilogo, an eBay company, empowers brands and consumers through trusted product authentication and brand engagement solutions. You will work within Product & Engineering, alongside product managers, software engineers, data specialists, UX designers and other AI experts to turn AI opportunities into real product capabilities. Working closely with Product, Tech Leads and the Innovation team, you will design, prototype and productionize AI-based solutions across Certilogo’s authentication and digital product experiences. You will help evaluate new AI approaches, translate promising experiments into scalable product features, and continuously evolve the AI capabilities already supporting our platform. This is a full-time position based in Milan, with a hybrid work model (3 days per week in the office) and flexibility to support work-life balance.

What you will accomplish

Turn AI opportunities into measurable product outcomes, from problem framing and data exploration through experimentation, validation and production deployment.

Design, develop and evolve Machine Learning and Computer Vision solutions supporting product authentication, fraud detection and digital product experiences, selecting the right approach for the problem rather than applying a fixed model or technique.

Evaluate and apply modern AI approaches, including multimodal and foundation models, embeddings and Generative AI, identifying where they can create meaningful value and where simpler, targeted models are preferable.

Build robust AI experimentation and evaluation practices, including representative datasets, meaningful metrics, error analysis and repeatable validation, so that model quality and business impact can be assessed objectively.

Productionize AI components in collaboration with engineering teams, with attention to scalability, latency, reliability, cost, model/version management, monitoring and continuous improvement.

Collaborate with Product, Engineering, UX, Data and external partners to shape requirements, communicate trade-offs and turn AI capabilities into usable, maintainable product features.

What you will bring

4+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing and deploying Machine Learning / Deep Learning solutions, ideally including Computer Vision and production AI systems.

Strong Python skills and solid experience with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch and/or TensorFlow, plus the ability to build maintainable, testable production code.

Strong understanding of Computer Vision and Deep Learning techniques, with experience in areas such as image classification, detection, embeddings, similarity, anomaly detection or related visual recognition problems.

Practical experience evaluating and applying foundation models, multimodal / Vision-Language Models or Generative AI techniques; ability to assess accuracy, limitations, latency and cost.

Strong data and experimentation skills, including dataset preparation, feature engineering, statistical reasoning, error analysis and model evaluation; familiarity with SQL and common data/ML libraries.

Experience with MLOps / production AI practices such as experiment tracking, model versioning, CI/CD, containerization, cloud deployment, monitoring and model performance or drift management.

Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex AI concepts, make pragmatic technical trade-offs, stay current with the AI landscape and work effectively across Product, Engineering and business stakeholders.

Fluency in English. Italian language skills are a plus.

Additional Details

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below: 42,800 EUR - 59,000 EUR Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience.

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a range of insurance coverage (including medical) and/or other benefits (including retirement plan eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO, wellbeing and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided upon an offer of employment.
