Job summary

McKinsey & Company Italy is seeking an experienced AI/Data Engineer to design and build AI solutions that blend software development with robust data engineering. You will collaborate with a global network of technologists and data scientists to transform client analytics into scalable products.

You will mentor client teams on engineering best practices, data governance, and Agile values, while helping shape AI-driven strategies across industries.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of professional experience in building and deploying data solutions and software products.
• Strong coding skills in Python, with Scala or Java a plus.
• Experience with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for production systems.
• Familiarity with Spark, Dask, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and analytics libraries (pandas, numpy, matplotlib).
• Exposure to DevOps, DataOps, and MLOps concepts; experience with Python, PySpark, SQL, Airflow, Databricks, Kedro, Dask/RAPIDS, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud services.
• Experience with Generative AI or LLMs is a plus.
• Exposure to AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Scikit-Learn) and Responsible AI practices.
• Experience working in Agile teams and strong communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a global network of technologists, data scientists, and experts to transform client analytics.
• Develop scalable data pipelines and software products for AI applications.
• Mentor client teams on engineering best practices and Agile values.
• Ensure data quality and secure environments; contribute to R&D and internal assets.
• Partner with QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey to accelerate AI adoption and solve business problems at scale.
