Job summary

Avnet is seeking an Accountant to join the South Europe Finance team in Milan. You will manage finance and accounting activities for an Italian entity, collaborating within an international environment and developing your skills in a dynamic, supportive team.

Responsibilities include month-end close, reporting, cash management, VAT and tax filings, and interactions with auditors. Fluency in English and strong Excel/SAP skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Manage non-trade accounts payables and journal entries.
• Prepare financial reports and close monthly, including reconciliations.
• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual closing per Local and US GAAP.
• Ensure integrity of accounting information and transactions.
• Manage cash activities and reporting, including payments.
• Coordinate with Tax Authorities for audits and filings.
• Prepare VAT returns and related government filings.
• Interact with auditors to resolve issues timely.
• Maintain knowledge of accounting practices and new transactions.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant to join our supportive and dynamic South Europe Finance team in Milan. You will be responsible for the finance and accounting activities of one of the Group's Italian legal entities, working collaboratively within an international environment.

What you will be doing:

• Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company
• Oversee the automated processes for sales, purchases, AR, AP
• Non-Trade Accounts payables, journal entries
• Prepare financial reports, manage the month-end closing process and perform monthly reconciliations
• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities following Local and US GAAP
• Ensure the integrity of accounting information by verifying and recording transactions
• Manage cash activities and reporting, including payment preparation
• Manage interactions with Tax Authorities for audit and special requests
• Maintain and review financial records, including Fixed Assets Ledger
• Ensure compliance with local accounting legislation, tax laws, standards and reporting timeliness
• Manage intercompany and bank reconciliations
• Manage the preparation of VAT returns, working in liaison with local tax and legal consultants to ensure the correct calculation of monthly VAT and taxable income; prepare VAT reports, the Journal Book, F24 forms and other government-related filings
• Interact directly with auditors to discuss and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner
• Maintain strong knowledge of accounting and finance practices
• Analyse new transactions and documenting appropriate accounting treatment under Local GAAP and US GAAP and ensuring that it is applied

What we are looking for:

• Extensive experience in a similar role within Italian and international entities
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
• A strong understanding of administrative and accounting processes,
• Extensive experience in general or tax accounting
• Familiarity with US GAAP
• Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
• Fluent in English
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and SAP
• Ability to work in cross collaboration with both internal and external teams
