Job summary

Avnet in Milan is seeking an Accountant to join the South Europe Finance team. You will manage financial operations for the Italian entity, ensuring compliance with Local GAAP and US GAAP, and support month-end close.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Accounting/Finance, fluent English, advanced Excel skills, and experience with SAP. You will work autonomously in a collaborative international environment and contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in a similar role within Italian and international entities.
• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
• Proven ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Monitor day-to-day financial operations within the company.
• Oversee automated processes for sales, purchases, AR, AP.
• Non-Trade Accounts payables, journal entries.
• Prepare financial reports, manage month-end closing, reconcile.
• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities following Local and US GAAP.
• Ensure integrity of accounting information by verifying and recording transactions.
• Manage cash activities and reporting, including payment preparation.
• Manage interactions with Tax Authorities for audit and special requests.
• Maintain and review financial records, including Fixed Assets Ledger.
• Ensure compliance with local accounting legislation, tax laws, standards and reporting timeliness.
• Manage intercompany and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare VAT returns, VAT reports, Journal Book, F24 forms and other filings in liaison with local tax/legal consultants.
• Interact with auditors to discuss accounting issues.
• Maintain strong knowledge of accounting and finance practices.
• Analyze new transactions and document appropriate accounting treatment under Local GAAP and US GAAP.

What you will be doing:

• Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company

• Maintain strong knowledge of accounting and finance practices
• Analyse new transactions and documenting appropriate accounting treatment under Local GAAP and US GAAP and ensuring that it is applied

What we are looking for:

• Extensive experience in a similar role within Italian and international entities
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
• A strong understanding of administrative and accounting processes,
• Extensive experience in general or tax accounting
• Familiarity with US GAAP
• Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
• Fluent in English
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and SAP
• Ability to work in cross collaboration with both internal and external teams
