Job summary

Hill Robinson Group is seeking a technically skilled 2nd Engineer to join a 49m Explorer Motor Yacht sailing worldwide from Genoa, Italy. This permanent role offers long-term stability within a professional engineering team, with a focus on preventative maintenance, PMS, and meticulous documentation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a 2nd Engineer on similar-sized motor yachts.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, generators, electrical and auxiliary systems.
• Experience with diesel-electric propulsion systems highly desirable.
• Caterpillar engine experience advantageous.
• Confident in fault-finding, preventative maintenance and engineering operations.
• Excellent organisational skills, PMS, technical reporting and spare parts inventory management.
• Proactive, detail-oriented and comfortable working alongside the Chief Engineer on extended worldwide cruising programmes.

2nd Engineer – Private 49m Explorer M/Y

We are seeking a technically skilled and motivated 2nd Engineer to join a well-established 49m Explorer Motor Yacht with a worldwide cruising programme. This is a permanent position offering long-term stability within a professional engineering team. Experience with diesel-electric propulsion systems and a strong approach to preventative maintenance, inventory management and technical documentation will be particularly valuable.

Start date: ASAP – Genoa, Italy
Itinerary: Worldwide – heading to the Caribbean
Package: Salary in €, 90 days’ paid leave

Experience/Skills required:

• Previous experience as a 2nd Engineer on similar-sized motor yachts
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, generators, electrical and auxiliary systems
• Experience with diesel-electric propulsion systems highly desirable
• Caterpillar engine experience advantageous

Qualifications required:

• SV Second Engineer < 9000 kW, < 3000 GT CoC or equivalent qualification accepted by the flag state
• STCW (fully updated) with PSA/PDSD
• Seafarer's Medical Certificate
• Seaman's Discharge Book (preferred)
