Job Overview

Role: Fitter & Welder.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fit, and fabricate metal components and structures according to technical drawings and specifications.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine fitting requirements.
• Mark, measure, and cut materials accurately before assembly.
• Use hand tools, power tools, gas cutting, and machinery such as grinders, drills, and fitting equipment.
• Assist in welding preparation and ensure parts are correctly positioned prior to welding.
• Ensure welding, quality, and safety procedures are followed and common practices are complied with on the shop floor.
• Prioritize safety by maintaining rigorous adherence to safety standards and processes, identifying, reporting, and addressing safety risks and issues immediately.
• Understand and apply basic principles of gouging and welding processes (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, SAW).

Requirements & Qualifications

• ITI Fitter/Diploma or equivalent; technical training or apprenticeship preferred.
• Proven experience as a Heavy Fabrication Fitter.
• 5 to 8 years of experience in Heavy fabrication or Pressure Vessel Fabrication.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Heavy Fabrication and qualified in GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, SAW.
• Experience performing groove welds (T joints, knuckle, corner & butt joints) for thickness up to 40 mm and above.
• Understanding of WPS/PQR/WPQ/WELD BOOK.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Follow methods, standards, and work instructions for welding turbines and generator components using TIG, MIG, SMAW, and SAW techniques.
