Job summary

A R Fabrication in India is seeking a Quality Inspector for fabrication and welding processes. You will inspect materials, perform VT and coordinate NDT activities, and ensure dimensional accuracy using precision tools.

The role requires reading engineering drawings and weld symbols, understanding QAP/ITP, and maintaining inspector records. Prior shop-floor experience and strong quality focus are preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma or BE in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 1–5 years of experience in Quality Inspection, Fabrication, or Manufacturing.
• Knowledge of welding inspection, VT, and NDT is essential.
• Experience in dimensional inspection using Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Measuring Tape, etc.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering/fabrication drawings and weld symbols.
• Familiarity with QAP/ITP/NCR, inspection reports, and quality documentation.

Responsibilities

Job Role & Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming materials, raw materials, and bought-out components as per drawings and specifications.


• Perform in-process and final quality inspection of fabricated components.


• Conduct Weld Visual Inspection (VT) and coordinate NDT activities such as UT, DPT, MPT, and RT.


• Carry out dimensional inspection using Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Measuring Tape and other precision instruments.


• Interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and applicable quality standards.


• Monitor welding and fabrication activities to ensure compliance with approved procedures and specifications.


• Prepare and maintain Inspection Reports, Quality Reports, NCRs, and inspection records.


• Identify quality defects and coordinate with production teams for corrective and preventive actions.


• Ensure compliance with QAP/ITP, customer specifications, and applicable standards.


• Coordinate with clients/third-party inspectors during inspection and testing.


• Monitor fabrication quality including fit-up, welding, dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and painting/coating.


• Support root-cause analysis and continuous improvement of fabrication quality.


• Ensure proper traceability of materials, welding consumables, and inspection documentation.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.


• 1-5 years of experience in Quality Inspection, Fabrication, or Manufacturing industry.


• Candidates with Structural & Heavy Fabrication experience will be preferred.


• Strong knowledge of Welding Inspection, Weld Visual Inspection (VT) and NDT.


• Experience in dimensional inspection using Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Measuring Tape, etc.


• Ability to read and interpret engineering/fabrication drawings and weld symbols.


• Knowledge of QAP, ITP, NCR, inspection reports and quality documentation.


• Familiarity with welding processes, fabrication defects, and corrective actions.


• Good understanding of quality standards and customer specifications.


• Good communication and coordination skills with Production, QC, Client and Third-Party Inspection agencies.


• Candidates with practical shop-floor experience and a strong focus on quality are preferred.
