Apollo Hospitals is seeking an experienced OT Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day functioning of all Operation Theatres, ensuring readiness, safety, and efficient service delivery.

The role requires strong leadership, infection control expertise, and coordination with surgeons, anesthesia teams, and support departments to maintain high standards of care and compliance.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. Nursing or diploma with OT management experience.
• Diploma or certification in OT Technology/Management may count with experience.

Job description

To manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Operation Theatre, ensuring efficient utilization of OT resources, patient safety, infection control, staff coordination, and adherence to hospital policies and clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day functioning and smooth operations of all Operation Theatres.
• Coordinate and schedule elective and emergency surgeries in consultation with surgeons, anaesthesia teams, and concerned departments.
• Ensure OT readiness before every procedure, including instruments, equipment, consumables, implants, and required medications.
• Supervise and allocate duties to OT nurses, technicians, attendants, and support staff.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control practices, sterilization protocols, and OT safety standards.
• Coordinate with CSSD for timely availability of sterile instruments and surgical sets.
• Ensure proper maintenance, cleaning, disinfection, and environmental standards of the OT complex.
• Monitor availability and utilization of OT equipment, instruments, consumables, and emergency supplies.
• Ensure proper documentation of surgeries, OT registers, checklists, implant records, and other required records.
• Ensure strict compliance with surgical safety protocols, including patient identification, site marking, surgical safety checklist, and count procedures.
• Coordinate with Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy, Stores, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and other support departments for uninterrupted OT services.
• Monitor OT utilization, cancellations, delays, turnaround time, and other operational parameters.
• Identify operational issues and take timely corrective action in coordination with the concerned departments.
• Ensure proper handling, segregation, and disposal of biomedical waste as per hospital policy.
• Conduct regular audits and ensure compliance with NABH and other applicable accreditation standards.
• Participate in incident reporting, root-cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Train, guide, and mentor OT staff on clinical procedures, safety practices, infection control, and hospital protocols.
• Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing based on OT workload.
• Maintain discipline and professional standards among OT staff.
• Coordinate emergency OT requirements and ensure availability of necessary manpower and resources.
• Monitor staff performance and provide feedback to the concerned reporting authority.
• Prepare and submit OT-related MIS reports and operational data as required.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the management.

Qualification

• B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing / GNM.
• Diploma or certification in Operation Theatre Technology/Management may be considered based on experience.

Experience

• 5-10 years of relevant hospital experience, preferably with experience in Operation Theatre management.
• Prior experience in a supervisory or OT In-Charge role will be preferred.
