Job summary

MVR Technology is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, program, commission and maintain industrial automation systems across manufacturing and infrastructure projects. The role focuses on PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, electrical control panels and instrumentation.

The candidate will work on integrating pumps, motors, sensors and field devices, while ensuring FAT/SAT support and safe commissioning at project sites. On-site travel is required as needed.

Job Description

MVR Technology is looking for an Automation Engineer to develop, program, commission and maintain industrial automation systems for manufacturing equipment, sewage treatment plants (STP), effluent treatment plants (ETP), faecal sludge treatment plants (FSTP) and infrastructure projects.

The candidate should have practical knowledge of PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, electrical control panels, instrumentation and troubleshooting.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Develop, modify and troubleshoot PLC programs for machines, process equipment and automated plant operations.
• Design and configure HMI/SCADA screens, alarms, trends, equipment status displays and operational reports.
• Prepare control logic, operating sequences, interlocks and alarm conditions based on project requirements.
• Configure and commission variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor starters and associated control systems.
• Integrate pumps, blowers, motors, valves and field instruments with PLC-based control systems.
• Install, configure and calibrate instruments such as level, flow, pressure, temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen sensors.
• Read and prepare electrical schematics, panel wiring drawings, I/O lists, cable schedules and bills of materials.
• Coordinate with panel manufacturers and electrical teams for control panel assembly, wiring, inspection and testing.
• Perform PLC I/O checks, loop checks, equipment trials and functional testing before commissioning.
• Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and project handover.
• Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, communication and automation faults to reduce equipment downtime.
• Implement industrial communication using protocols such as Modbus RTU/TCP, Profinet or Ethernet/IP, as applicable.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, civil and process teams for installation and commissioning activities.
• Maintain backups of PLC/HMI programs, system configurations, drawings and commissioning records.
• Provide operator training and prepare operating instructions, troubleshooting guides and maintenance documentation.
• Support preventive maintenance, system improvements and automation upgrades.
• Follow electrical safety procedures, permit requirements and safe isolation practices during site work.
• Travel to project sites for installation, commissioning and technical support when required.

Required Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Instrumentation, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
• Diploma candidates with relevant practical industrial automation experience may also be considered.

Required Technical Skills

• Hands-on knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Experience with one or more PLC platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Delta or equivalent.
• HMI/SCADA configuration and development.
• VFD configuration, motor controls and electrical panel troubleshooting.
• Industrial instrumentation, sensor integration and calibration.
• Understanding of digital/analogue signals, control circuits and industrial communication.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications.

Preferred Experience

• Automation experience in STP, ETP, FSTP, water treatment, wastewater treatment or manufacturing plants.
• Exposure to PID control, remote monitoring, data logging and industrial IoT systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar drawing software.
• Independent handling of site commissioning and technical problem-solving.
