Job summary

Prodapt is seeking an experienced OpenVMS Administrator to provide 24x7 support for OpenVMS-based systems in a telecom domain. The role requires L2/L3 operational expertise, strong troubleshooting, and performance tuning in Sysgen/Autogen, with strong DCL scripting and DECnet/TCP/IP knowledge.

Responsibilities include end-to-end system maintenance, patching, memory management, and coordinating with software and infrastructure teams to ensure stable operations.

Qualifications

• Must have working expertise in VSI OpenVMS 8.3 & 8.4.
• L2/L3 experience in OpenVMS administration tasks.
• Very good troubleshooting skills.
• Performance tuning expertise in Sysgen and Autogen.
• Analyzing OpenVMS error logs and dumps.
• Experience in Decnet-IV, Decnet OverIP, Decnet Plus and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of OpenVMS TCP/IP management.
• Experience with OpenVMS products and patch installation.
• Memory management and memory tuning experience.
• Experience in ILO chassis management and HP ILO VCM.
• DCL scripting to automate jobs; debugging scripts.
• Experience in Apache management and device management.
• End-to-end support for OpenVMS-based systems in complex environments.
• Familiarity with VMS backup/restore concepts and log analysis.
• Knowledge of VMS network concepts and user administration.
• Experience with Oracle RDB (DML/DDL) and SQL COBOL programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end support for OpenVMS-based systems within Liberate applications.
• Maintain and tune Sysgen parameters and troubleshoot performance issues.
• Handle OpenVMS maintenance activities, installations, and administration.
• Troubleshoot OpenVMS server reboots and crashes; recover platforms.
• Debug complex DCL scripts and manage VMS log analysis.
• Ensure TCP/IP and DECnet network interfaces operate correctly.

• Upgrading the VMS across the HP Blade BL860c i2 to HP Blade BL860 i6

• Must have experience in Server shutdown & Startup management.
• Must have DCL Scripting skill to automate the Jobs

• Provide end-to-end support for all OpenVMS-based systems in Liberate applications, collaborating with software developers, infrastructure teams, and the end-user community.
• Responsible to Maintain and manage OpenVMS batch generic print queues Maintain Sysgen parameters tuning and troubleshooting
• Responsible for OpenVMS maintenance activities, Installation management and administration of OpenVMS Knowledge of DCL scripting for system administration tasks.
• Troubleshoot OpenVMS Server reboots, crashes and resolve/recover the platform.
• Should have well versed in DCL commands and capable of debugging the complex DCL scripts.
• Familiar with VMS backup and restore concepts
• Should have extensive knowledge and experience on log analysis and troubleshooting mechanism.
• Should have good knowledge in VMS network concepts like TCPIP / DECnet / Terminal PORT maintenance
• Should have good control over VMS user administration and user reported issues
• Should have good experience in Oracle RDB and in particular DML / DDL statements
• Should have capability to walk through and understand the SQL embedded COBOL Programs (.SCO).
• Should have good analytical and problem-solving mind set
• Should have good oral and written English communication
• Should have adaptability to work with other technology team member(s) to solve the related/associated issues.

This is an SLA driven 24x7 Telecom domain shift-based support project and hence expected more accountability and quick turnaround exposure.
