Job summary

Michelin is seeking a Subject Matter Expert for X86 and VMS systems to join the EDGE infrastructure team. You will drive modernization efforts, implement automated pipelines, and support complex applications across global teams.

The role requires 6–9 years of experience, deep knowledge of VMS/OpenVMS and VMware ecosystems, and strong Linux/Windows administration. English communication is essential for collaboration with Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Qualifications

• Proficient in VMS/OpenVMS systems and emulation solutions.
• Strong knowledge of DCL scripting and command language.
• Experience with VMware vSphere/VCF virtualization stack (ESX, NSX, vSAN).
• Solid Linux administration across major distros (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).
• Windows Server administration from legacy to current versions.
• Experience with storage and backup tools (VEEAM, RUBRIK, WASABI).
• Knowledge of computer networks and IT security basics.

Responsibilities

• Oversee automated construction, testing, and operation procedures (IaC) for perimeter solutions.
• Collaborate with teams to design and implement complex product solutions.
• Write architecture documents and ADRs with reference Architect.
• Manage CMDB catalogs and inventory across perimeter components.
• Provide Level 3 support (SNOW) and monitor technology trends.

Subject Matter Expert- X86 & VMS systems

**MISSION : As part of the transformation and modernization of its infrastructures and applications, Michelin is seeking a Level 2 technical expert on X86/VMware & VMS/OpenVMS systems. Within the EDGE team, integrated into the infrastructure and application teams of the Information Systems Department, you will join a group of technical experts and architects organized in a project or agile mode to help deliver the best solutions or products to its users.

**Relevant Years of Experience : 6-9

**Theoretical Skills**

• Proficiency in the VMS/OpenVMS system (VAX, DEC Alpha) & emulation solutions (Stromasys Charon), AVT VT Solution).
• Proficiency in DCL (Digital Command Language)
• Proficiency in the VMWare vSphere/VCF virtualization suite (ESX, NSX, vSAN, ARIA).
• Very good knowledge in Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, Rocky, Ubuntu).
• Very good knowledge in Windows Server operating systems (2003 to 2022).
• Good knowledge of storage and backup systems (VEEAM, RUBRIK, WASABI).
• Knowledge of networks.

**Main Tasks**

• Oversee the development and implementation of automated construction, testing, and operation procedures (IaC) for perimeter solutions.
• Collaborate with other teams on the design and implementation of more complex products such as application solutions.
• Write architecture documents and Architecture Decision Records with reference Product Architect.
• Manage the catalog (CMDB) and oversee inventories of solution components within the perimeter.
• Provide Level 3 support (SNOW) and monitor technological trends for the solutions within the perimeter.

**Team Life**

• Participate in workload estimations for topics (project tasks or Agile sprints).

• Management and operation of X86 systems and hypervisors.
• Management and operation of VMS platform.

A good level of English is essential, as team members may be in Europe and/or Asia and/or the Americas.
