About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and responsible VMC Programmer to join our Tool Room team. The candidate will be responsible for VMC programming, machining process planning, and ensuring accurate and efficient manufacturing of mould components as per drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare VMC programs for mould and die components.
- Develop machining strategies based on 2D drawings, 3D models, and machining requirements.
- Perform CAM programming for roughing, semi-finishing, finishing, drilling, pocketing, contouring, and other machining operations.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, speeds, feeds, and machining parameters.
- Understand and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and material specifications.
- Plan machining sequences to achieve required dimensions, surface finish, and accuracy.
- Coordinate with the Tool Room, Design, and Production teams for smooth execution of jobs.
- Verify programs through simulation/tool-path verification before machining.
- Support machine operators during program prove-out, setting, and first-off machining.
- Troubleshoot machining and programming-related issues and optimize programs to reduce machining time.
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of VMC programs.
- Maintain quality, productivity, and safety standards in the Tool Room.
- Monitor component quality during machining and take corrective action when required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma / BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or relevant technical qualification.
- 2–5 years of experience in VMC/CNC programming, preferably in mould and die manufacturing.
- Good knowledge of VMC machining.
- Hands-on experience with CAM software such as PowerMill, or equivalent.
- Good understanding of cutting tools, machining parameters, work holding, and tool selection.
- Ability to read and understand 2D drawings and 3D models.
- Knowledge of mould components, core/cavity machining, inserts, electrodes, and precision machining will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Fanuc/Siemens/Mitsubishi or similar CNC controls is preferred.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with the production team.
Preferred Candidate
Candidates with experience in plastic injection mould manufacturing, precision tool room operations, core & cavity machining, and high-accuracy VMC work will be preferred.
