Job summary

Showup India is seeking a VMC Machine Operator in the Tool Room to join our manufacturing team. The role requires setting up and operating Vertical Machining Centers and writing CNC programs using G-code and M-code based on engineering drawings.

The candidate should have hands-on VMC experience, be proficient in reading drawings and GD&T, and understand machining parameters. CAM software experience is a plus, and adherence to safety and quality standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with VMC setting and CNC programming (G-code/M-code) is required.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specs.
• Familiarity with CAM software is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate VMCs per job requirements and drawings.
• Write and optimize CNC programs using G-code and M-code.
• Select cutting tools and fixtures for machining operations.
• Conduct first-article inspection and in-process quality checks.
• Monitor machine performance and adjust offsets during runs.
• Maintain tool room equipment and inventories.
• Troubleshoot tool breakage and surface finish issues.
• Collaborate with design/production on CAD/CAM data.
• Ensure safety and keep a clean work area.
• Document machining parameters and tool life data.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) as per job requirements and engineering drawings
• Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and M-code for VMC machines
• Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices for machining operations
• Perform first-article inspection and in-process quality checks to ensure dimensional accuracy
• Monitor machine performance and make necessary offsets and adjustments during production runs
• Maintain and organize tool room equipment, tooling inventory, and fixtures
• Troubleshoot machining issues including tool breakage, dimensional deviations, and surface finish problems
• Coordinate with design and production teams to interpret technical drawings and CAD/CAM data
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work area
• Document machining parameters, tool life data, and process records accurately

Requirements / Qualifications

• Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die Making, or a related trade
• Proven hands‑on experience in VMC setting and CNC programming (G-code/M-code)
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications
• Experience with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, EdgeCAM, or similar) is an advantage
• Strong knowledge of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining parameters
