Job summary

Sodexo India is seeking an experienced Utility Engineer to manage operation, preventive and breakdown maintenance of utility systems at the Johnson Matthey site in Bawal, Haryana. You will ensure uninterrupted operation, equipment reliability and regulatory compliance for RO Plant, STP, ETP, and other critical utilities.

The role requires strong hands-on experience in industrial utilities, water treatment systems, electrical distribution, and mechanical equipment; Shifts may be required to match

Qualifications

• Minimum 6+ years of experience in industrial utility operations and maintenance.
• Strong hands-on experience with RO Plant, STP, and ETP operations and maintenance.
• Practical knowledge of utility maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance planning.
• Experience with chilling plants, cooling towers, and air compressors.
• Working knowledge of transformers, DG sets, LT/HT panels, VCBs, and ACBs.
• Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, pumps, motors, valves, and associated mechanical equipment.
• Familiarity with maintenance documentation, equipment logbooks, breakdown analysis, and utility consumption monitoring.
• Good coordination, troubleshooting, communication, and team-handling skills.
• Willingness to work in shifts, if required by site operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water & wastewater treatment plants (RO/STP/ETP).
• Monitor performance, water quality, flow, pressure, dosing, and efficiency.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance; troubleshoot equipment.
• Coordinate with technicians, vendors, and service providers for servicing.
• Monitor electrical distribution — transformers, DG sets, LT/HT panels, VCBs, ACBs.
• Maintain maintenance records, logs, and compliance with safety procedures.
• Plan and execute maintenance schedules; reduce downtime; improve reliability.

Job Summary

Sodexo India is looking for an experienced Utility Engineer to manage the operation, preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, and troubleshooting of utility systems at the Johnson Matthey site in Bawal, Haryana.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring uninterrupted operation, equipment reliability, statutory compliance, and efficient performance of utility infrastructure, particularly RO Plant, STP, ETP, and other critical utility equipment.

Candidates with strong hands‑on experience in industrial utility operations and maintenance, water treatment systems, electrical distribution systems, and mechanical utilities are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

1. Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants

• Operate and maintain RO Plant, Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), and Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP).
• Monitor plant performance, water quality parameters, flow rates, pressure, chemical dosing, and treatment efficiency.
• Ensure timely preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and breakdown rectification of pumps, motors, pipelines, valves, filters, and associated equipment.
• Monitor treatment processes, sludge handling, backwashing, and consumable requirements as applicable.
• Maintain operational logbooks, water quality records, chemical consumption reports, and maintenance documentation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable environmental requirements, site procedures, and wastewater discharge norms.

2. Utility Operations & Maintenance

• Manage daily utility operations and maintenance activities to ensure uninterrupted site functioning.
• Operate and maintain chilling plants, cooling towers, and air compressors.
• Monitor utility parameters, equipment performance, operating efficiency, and energy consumption.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.
• Coordinate with technicians, vendors, and service providers for maintenance and equipment servicing.

3. Electrical Utilities & Distribution

• Monitor and maintain transformers, DG sets, LT panels, HT panels, VCBs, and ACBs.
• Ensure routine inspections, equipment health monitoring, and timely maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
• Coordinate electrical troubleshooting and breakdown restoration with authorized and competent personnel.
• Ensure safe isolation, permit-to-work compliance, and adherence to electrical safety procedures.

4. Maintenance Planning & Documentation

• Prepare and execute preventive maintenance schedules for all utility equipment.
• Maintain equipment history, breakdown reports, maintenance checklists, and shift handover records.
• Identify recurring equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Track utility consumption, equipment downtime, and maintenance performance indicators.
• Coordinate with operations and site teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.

5. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with site HSE policies, PPE requirements, and safe working procedures.
• Follow Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and electrical isolation procedures, as applicable.
• Support safety inspections, audits, emergency preparedness, and environmental compliance activities.
• Ensure maintenance activities are performed safely and in accordance with site requirements.
