Job summary

Responsibilities

A Urologist is responsible for diagnosing and managing diseases and disorders of the urinary tract and male reproductive system. The includes medical and surgical management, diagnostic evaluation, procedures, post-operative care, and coordination with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

• Evaluate and diagnose urological conditions.
• Take detailed medical, urinary, and surgical histories.
• Manage disorders of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra, and male reproductive system.
• Review laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic reports.
• Develop individualized medical and surgical treatment plans.
• Perform urological procedures and surgeries within professional qualifications and scope.
• Perform endoscopic and minimally invasive procedures where appropriately trained.
• Manage urinary tract infections, urinary obstruction, stones, and other urological conditions as applicable.
• Evaluate and manage prostate and male reproductive disorders.
• Conduct pre-operative assessments and obtain appropriate informed consent.
• Manage complications and coordinate appropriate interventions.
• Coordinate with nephrologists, oncologists, radiologists, surgeons, and other specialists.
• Provide patient and family counselling regarding treatment and follow-up.
• Maintain accurate clinical and operative documentation.
• Participate in clinical rounds and multidisciplinary case discussions.
• Support emergency urological care where required.
• Participate in clinical audits and quality-improvement activities.
• Follow infection-control and patient-safety standards.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and professional ethics.
