Job summary

Continental Hospitals in Hyderabad, India seeks an Endoscopy Support Technician to assist gastroenterologists in diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures. You will help prepare rooms and equipment, position patients, handle instruments, and ensure sterilization and infection control in the endoscopy unit.

The role involves maintaining records, supporting nursing staff, managing inventory, and assisting during emergencies under clinical supervision.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in Gastroenterology, Endoscopy, or GI procedure unit preferred.
  • Freshers with relevant qualification and clinical training may also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Gastroenterologists during upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, and other GI procedures as per training and competency.
  • Prepare the endoscopy room and ensure all required equipment and consumables are available.
  • Assist with patient positioning and preparation before procedures.
  • Provide necessary instruments and accessories to the physician during procedures.
  • Assist with specimen collection, labelling, and safe transfer to the laboratory.
  • Set up and check endoscopes, video processors, light sources, monitors, suction systems, and other equipment before procedures.
  • Ensure endoscopy equipment is functioning properly.
  • Handle endoscopes and accessories carefully to prevent damage.
  • Report equipment malfunction immediately to the concerned department.
  • Maintain proper records of equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Perform cleaning, disinfection, and high-level disinfection of endoscopes as per hospital SOPs.
  • Follow established protocols for endoscope reprocessing and storage.
  • Ensure proper cleaning and sterilization of reusable instruments and accessories.
  • Maintain endoscopy room cleanliness and infection-control standards.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of endoscope reprocessing.
  • Assist nursing staff in preparing patients for procedures.
  • Verify patient details and procedure requirements as per hospital protocol.
  • Assist in monitoring the patient during and after the procedure under the supervision of the clinical team.
  • Immediately report any change in the patient's condition to the doctor/nurse.
  • Assist with safe transfer of patients to and from the procedure area.
  • Ensure emergency equipment, oxygen, suction, and resuscitation equipment are readily available.
  • Assist the medical team during procedure-related emergencies.
  • Maintain readiness of emergency and procedure-related consumables.
  • Maintain adequate stock of endoscopy accessories, consumables, PPE, disinfectants, and other supplies.
  • Monitor expiry dates and storage conditions.
  • Inform the supervisor regarding stock shortages and requirements.
  • Maintain inventory and consumption records.
  • Maintain procedure-related records and endoscopy logs.
  • Document equipment usage, cleaning/reprocessing, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure appropriate specimen labelling and documentation.
  • Support departmental records required for hospital audits and accreditation.

Job description

Key Roles & Responsibilities
