Job summary

Saint-Gobain Group in India is seeking a shift-based mechanical maintenance technician to ensure reliable operation of critical equipment. The role focuses on monitoring pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, and compressors, providing rapid technical support, and coordinating maintenance activities to minimize downtime.

The incumbent will perform preventive, corrective, and predictive tasks, troubleshoot faults, and maintain detailed logs.

Responsibilities

• Monitor mechanical systems (pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, compressors, utility lines) during the shift.
• Provide immediate technical support in case of equipment failure or malfunction.
• Coordinate preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance tasks as per schedule.
• Troubleshoot mechanical faults and ensure quick rectification.
• Document all maintenance and repair activities in the logbook.

Job description

To ensure the smooth operation and reliability of mechanical equipment and systems during the assigned shift.

To handle breakdowns, perform inspections, coordinate preventive maintenance, and support production with minimal downtime in respective shift.

Key Responsibilities

Shift Operations

• Monitor and ensure the proper functioning of all mechanical systems (pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, compressors, utility lines, etc.) during the shift.
• Provide immediate technical support in case of equipment failure or malfunction.
• Understand about CNC/SPM Machine mechanical function and operation
• Coordinate closely with production and utility teams to maintain continuous operations.

Maintenance Execution

• Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance tasks as per schedule.
• Troubleshoot mechanical faults and ensure quick rectification.
• Document all maintenance and repair activities in the logbook .

Safety And Compliance

• Follow and enforce safety standards and procedures in maintenance work.
• Conduct regular equipment checks to identify safety hazards and correct them.
• Ensure compliance with maintenance SOPs and regulatory standards.

Shift Handover & Reporting

• Maintain shift-wise reports on equipment status, breakdowns, repairs, and spare usage.
• Conduct proper handover to the next shift with relevant updates and pending work.
• Ensure availability or stock of spare parts

Continuous Improvement:

• Suggest and implement improvements to reduce downtime and improve machine performance.
• Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability initiatives.
• 5s & involvement in improvement activities.
