Job summary

Roots Group of Companies in Coimbatore is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance, ensure equipment reliability and maintain precise records. You will monitor MTTR/MTBF, coordinate with production, and drive improvements to minimize downtime while ensuring safety and 5S compliance.

Responsibilities include planning maintenance, record keeping, and producing periodic maintenance reports, with a focus on continuous production support and timely issue

Qualifications

• Experience in preventive and breakdown maintenance.
• Ability to plan and execute maintenance activities.
• Strong data tracking of MTTR/MTBF and downtime.
• Maintain maintenance documentation and reports.
• Coordinate with production during outages and maintenance.

• Inspect machines, equipment, electrical/mechanical components and identify potential issues before breakdown.
• Ensure timely lubrication, inspection, cleaning, adjustment and replacement of critical components.
• Maintain preventive maintenance checklists and ensure scheduled activities are completed on time.
• Attend machine breakdowns and support quick restoration of equipment.
• Identify root causes and coordinate corrective actions.
• Minimize machine downtime and ensure safe restoration of equipment.
• Maintain breakdown history and monitor recurring problems.
• Prepare maintenance performance reports for review by the Maintenance Manager.
• Assist the Maintenance Manager to ensure continuous and reliable machine availability for production.
• Coordinate with Production and other departments during breakdowns and maintenance activities.
• Prioritize critical machine issues based on production requirements.
• Support improvements to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Follow maintenance safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Support implementation of 5S, TPM and other maintenance improvement initiatives.

Preventive Maintenance

• Plan and carry out preventive maintenance activities as per the maintenance schedule.
• Inspect machines, equipment, electrical/mechanical components and identify potential issues before breakdown.
• Ensure timely lubrication, inspection, cleaning, adjustment and replacement of critical components.
• Maintain preventive maintenance checklists and ensure scheduled activities are completed on time.

Breakdown Maintenance

• Attend machine breakdowns and support quick restoration of equipment.
• Identify the root cause of breakdowns and coordinate with the concerned team for corrective action.
• Minimize machine downtime and ensure machines are restored safely and efficiently.
• Maintain breakdown history and monitor recurring machine problems.

Maintenance Record Keeping

• Maintain records of preventive maintenance, breakdowns, machine downtime and corrective actions.
• Update machine maintenance history, checklists and service records.
• Maintain records of spare parts consumption and support monitoring of critical spares.
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly maintenance reports
• MTTR & MTBF Monitoring
• Monitor and maintain MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) and MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) data.
• Analyze machine downtime and identify recurring breakdowns.
• Support the maintenance team in implementing actions to reduce MTTR and improve MTBF.
• Prepare maintenance performance reports for review by the Maintenance Manager.

Machine Availability & Continuous Production Support

• Assist the Maintenance Manager in ensuring continuous and reliable machine availability for production.
• Coordinate with Production and other departments during machine breakdowns and maintenance activities.
• Prioritize critical machine issues based on production requirements.
• Support improvement activities to reduce machine downtime and improve equipment reliability.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all maintenance safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Ensure maintenance activities are carried out safely without affecting personnel or equipment.
• Support implementation of 5S, TPM and other maintenance improvement initiatives.
