Job summary

Utrade is seeking a capable Linux Systems Engineer to install, configure, and maintain trading software on client Linux servers in Mohali. You will monitor performance, troubleshoot OS-level issues, and deploy new software versions to production environments, ensuring stability and high availability.

You will analyze logs, coordinate with development and QA, and help automate routine tasks while documenting procedures and configurations for seamless operations.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Linux and OS-level issue handling.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities.
• Familiarity with networking concepts (Unicast/Broadcast/Multicast).
• Basic shell scripting for automation.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain trading software on client Linux servers with minimal downtime.
• Monitor and resolve server performance issues for stability.
• Provide technical support via phone, email, and ticketing systems.
• Analyse logs to detect issues and trends; implement solutions.
• Diagnose OS-level issues and apply patches as needed.
• Deploy new app versions ensuring production compatibility.
• Use Tcpdump, telnet, netstat to troubleshoot networking and system config.
• Collaborate with dev/QA to fix bugs and optimize software.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation on procedures and configurations.
• Assist automation scripting for routine tasks and participate in DR planning including backups, failover, risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain trading software on client Linux servers, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum performance
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve server performance issues to ensure system stability and reliability
• Provide technical support to clients via multiple channels (phone, email, ticketing systems), ensuring timely resolution of all queries
• Analyse system and application logs to detect issues, identify trends, and implement solutions
• Diagnose and resolve OS-level issues (e.g., buffer settings, kernel issues) and apply patches as needed
• Deploy new versions of application software, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance in production environments
• Use diagnostic tools (Tcpdump, telnet, netstat) to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to networking, hardware, and system configurations
• Collaborate with development and QA teams to identify and resolve software bugs and optimize software functionality
• Maintain up-to-date documentation on technical procedures, system configurations, and support- FAQs
• Assist in the development of automation scripts for routine maintenance task - Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning, including
• backups,
• failover strategies, and risk mitigation

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Linux & must have knowledge of handling OS level issues.
• Strong technical aptitude with a structured and logical thought process
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to deep-dive into complex issues and come up with innovative solutions
• Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage competing priorities effectively
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts such as Unicast, Broadcast, and Multicast
• Proficient understanding of networking protocols (TCP, UDP, IGMP, ICMP) and their applications
• Basic shell scripting knowledge to automate routine tasks and configurations
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and technologies such as Docker, Git, Kubernetes (K8s), and Kafka is a plus
• Prior experience with trading platforms, exchanges, or financial systems will be considered an added advantage
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
