Responsibilities

• Own start-of-day readiness: exchange connectivity, session logins, data loads, risk limits, data feeds, and go/no-go before open.
• Monitor real-time order flow and latency; investigate issues on live systems during market hours.
• Be first point of contact for traders on order state, execution issues, connectivity, and platform behavior.
• Run end-of-day processes: trade capture, reconciliation, P&L checks, break investigation, file delivery.
• Triage and drive production incidents to resolution across multiple teams and external parties.
• Communicate incident status, impact, and ETA clearly to traders during live events.
• Write post-incident reviews and follow remediation steps to closure.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Trade Support Engineer to own the day-to-day stability of our trading platform. This is a hands‑on production role sitting between the trading desk, engineering, and the exchanges - you will be the first line of defence when order flow behaves unexpectedly, and the person who makes sure it doesn't happen twice.

You will be expected to debug on live systems, read logs and code, script your way out of repetitive work, and push permanent fixes back into the platform.

What You'll Do

Live market support

• Own start-of-day readiness: exchange connectivity, session logins, reference and static data, risk limit loads, market data feeds, and go/no-go sign-off before the open.
• Monitor order flow, fills, rejects, and latency in real time; investigate and resolve issues on live trading systems during market hours.
• Act as first point of contact for traders on order state, execution discrepancies, connectivity problems, and platform behaviour.
• Run end-of-day processes: trade capture, drop-copy reconciliation, position and P&L checks, break investigation, and downstream file delivery.

Incident and problem management

• Triage, escape, and drive production incidents to resolution, coordinating between the desk, development, infrastructure, and external parties (exchanges, brokers, vendors).
• Communicate clearly and concisely to a trading audience during live incidents - status, impact, ETA, workaround.
• Write blameless post-incident reviews and follow through on remediation items rather than closing them out.

Exchange and vendor interface

• Liaise with exchanges and clearing members on connectivity, order rejects, mock trading and conformance sessions, circuit-breaker events, and settlement queries.
• Coordinate exchange change notices - protocol upgrades, contract and symbology changes, holiday calendars, session timing changes - and ensure the platform is tested and ready ahead of go-live.

Engineering and automation

• Automate recurring checks, reconciliations, and manual runbook steps using Python and shell scripting.
• Maintain and improve runbooks, escalation matrices, and knowledge base documentation.
• Participate in release validation, UAT sign-off, and production deployments; own rollback readiness.

What We're Looking For

Required

• 5–7 years in trade support, production support, or trading operations at a broker, prop trading firm, exchange, or investment bank.
• Strong working knowledge of the order lifecycle - order entry through execution, allocation, clearing, and settlement - across at least one asset class (equities, F&O, currency, or commodities).
• Solid Linux command line skills - log analysis, process and service management, network troubleshooting, disk and resource investigation.
• Scripting proficiency in Python and Bash for automation and diagnostics.
• SQL - able to write your own queries against trade and reference data without hand-holding.
• Demonstrated ownership of production incidents from detection through to permanent fix.
• Clear written and verbal communication, particularly the ability to explain a technical problem to a non-technical trading audience while it is still ongoing.

Preferred

• Exposure to low-latency or co-located trading environments and the operational discipline they demand.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, or equivalent).
• Experience with exchange-specific protocols and APIs beyond FIX (e.g. native exchange binary protocols, market data feed handlers).
• Working knowledge of Indian market infrastructure - NSE, BSE, MCX - and/or overseas venues such as CME, Cboe.
• Ability to read C++ or Python well enough to trace behaviour through application code, even if not writing production code day to day.
• Exposure to algorithmic or systematic trading strategies and their operational failure modes.
• Experience with configuration management or deployment tooling (Ansible, Git-based workflows, CI pipelines).
