Job summary

Virya Electric Powertrains in Lucknow seeks a field service engineer to diagnose and troubleshoot EV powertrain systems for 2W/3W and related components. You will provide remote guidance, visit sites for critical cases, and determine fault origins across Virya components, battery interfaces, and the vehicle network.

The role requires hands-on experience with motors, controllers, CAN, and diagnostic tools, plus strong English communication and field reporting. Travel within PAN India is expected.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical/Electronics/Automobile/Mechanical; BE/BTech preferred.
• 2–5 years in EV/automotive field service, diagnostics or technical support.
• Working knowledge of motors, controllers/inverters, power electronics, CAN, diagnostic tools, multimeter, and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot EV powertrain components and Virya-supplied parts.
• Provide remote and field technical support to OEMs and dealer teams with first-time-right focus.
• Isolate faults at vehicle level, including battery/BMS and wiring interfaces.
• Evaluate field failures against warranty terms and provide technical justification for decisions.
• Coordinate root-cause analysis with R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing for recurring issues.
• Own service cases/tickets through closure and produce clear reports and evidence.

Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

EV(Electric Vehicle) Powertrain Diagnostics & Technical Support: Diagnose and troubleshoot Electric Vehicles-EV 3 wheelers, EV 2 wheelers, traction motor, motor controller/inverter, gearbox/drivetrain interfaces, cluster, DC-DC converter, encoder/sensors, throttle, wiring harness/connectors and related Virya-supplied components using diagnostic software, DTCs, CAN data, electrical measurements, wiring diagrams and structured fault-finding.

Remote Resolution & Field Support: Provide prompt technical guidance to OEM/dealer service teams through phone/video/remote diagnostics, with a strong focus on first time-right resolution. Visit dealer/customer locations for unresolved or critical cases, breakdown support and joint investigations as required.

Vehicle-Level Fault Isolation: Understand complete EV architecture and isolate whether a concern originates from Virya components or interfacing systems such as battery/BMS, charger, vehicle wiring, fuse/relay, communication network or other parts. Battery knowledge is required for diagnosis; this is primarily an EV powertrain support role.

Warranty Assessment & Claim Validation: Evaluate field failures against warranty terms, technical evidence and failure mode; distinguish product defect from misuse, abuse, external system/interface issues or non-Virya parts. Recommend approval/rejection with clear technical justification and supporting evidence.

RCA, R&D & Quality Coordination: Coordinate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing and suppliers for complex failures, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, product feedback, field data and closure of recurring concerns.

Case Management, Reporting & Communication: Own service cases/tickets through closure; prepare clear service reports, joint investigation reports, failure summaries, photographs/data evidence and professional emails to OEM customers. Track repeat issues, response/TAT and escalation status.

Dealer Training & Knowledge Support: Conduct technical training/OJT for OEM service engineers and dealer technicians on EV powertrain architecture, diagnostic procedures, tools/software, warranty practices and safe working methods.

Safety & Travel: Follow applicable EV electrical/HV safety, PPE and service SOPs. Be willing to travel within the assigned territory and PAN India on case-to-case requirements.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Technical

Diploma in Electrical/Electronics/Automobile/Mechanical; B.E./B.Tech preferred.

2–5 years in EV/automotive field service, technical support or diagnostics; 2W/3W/commercial EV exposure preferred.

Working knowledge of motors, controllers/inverters, power electronics, CAN communication, diagnostic tools, multimeter and electrical schematics.

Behavioural / Communication

Strong analytical troubleshooting and customer/dealer handling skills; able to work independently in field situations.

Good written and verbal English; Hindi communication is essential for the Lucknow base.

Good MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint and structured technical report-writing skills.
