Responsibilities
The Technical Cell Head is responsible for leading the plant’s technical cell to ensure optimal process performance, capacity utilization, cost optimization, quality consistency, and continuous improvement across the integrated cement manufacturing operations (Mines, Raw Mill, Kiln, Cooler, Cement Mills, and Dispatch).
Process Optimization & Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyze day-to-day process parameters of mining, raw material preparation, kiln, clinkerization, cement grinding, and utilities. Identify gaps in performance and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Drive heat consumption, power consumption, and specific fuel consumption optimization. Benchmark plant performance with internal and external best practices.
Production & Quality Support: Support production teams in achieving rated capacity with stable operations. Ensure compliance with quality standards for clinker and cement. Analyze quality deviations and implement root cause analysis (RCA). Coordinate with Quality Control for raw mix design, fuel mix, and product optimization.
Technical Studies & Projects: Lead technical feasibility studies for capacity enhancement, debottlenecking, and modernization projects. Prepare technical reports, mass & heat balance, and process flow modifications. Support new equipment installation, commissioning, and performance guarantee (PG) tests. Evaluate new technologies, fuels, and alternative raw materials (AFR). Drive initiatives for reduction in power, fuel, refractory, and consumable costs. Work closely with AFR, electrical, and mechanical teams to improve energy efficiency. Support waste heat recovery (WHR) optimization and sustainability initiatives.
Data Analysis & MIS: Develop and review daily, monthly, and annual MIS reports. Analyze trends using historical data and recommend improvements. Ensure accuracy of technical data and reports shared with management and corporate technical teams.
Coordination & Cross-functional Support: Act as a technical interface between production, maintenance, quality, mines, and corporate technical teams. Provide technical guidance during shutdowns, startups, and emergency situations. Support statutory and internal audits related to process and performance.
Team Leadership & Capability Building: Lead and mentor the technical cell engineers. Identify training needs and build process engineering capabilities. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and innovation. Ensure all technical activities comply with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements. Support emission control, AFR compliance, and sustainability targets. Promote safe operating practices and hazard identification.
