Job summary

Avaloq AG is seeking a Senior Unix Engineer to design, implement, and operate secure, scalable Unix/Linux infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.

You will drive automation-first operations using Shell, Python, Ansible, and Terraform, ensuring high availability for mission-critical banking platform services and coordinated delivery with other teams.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate enterprise Unix/Linux infrastructure across data centers and cloud.
• Own Linux environments across Dev, Test, and Production focusing on availability and reliability.
• Install, patch, and upgrade Linux systems per security standards.
• Monitor performance, health, and capacity; optimize proactively.
• Manage CPU, memory, storage, filesystems and processes to maintain service level targets.
• Lead incident resolution with root cause analysis and remediation.

Job Summary

Avaloq is seeking a Senior Unix Engineer to design, implement, and operate secure, scalable, and highly available Unix/Linux infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.

The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in enterprise Linux systems, cloud infrastructure, automation, and operational support. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of platform services supporting mission-critical banking applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise Unix/Linux infrastructure across data center and cloud environments
• Own and manage Linux-based environments across Dev, Test, and Production with focus on availability and reliability
• Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Linux systems in line with operational and security standards
• Monitor system performance, health, and capacity, ensuring proactive optimization
• Manage system resources including CPU, memory, storage, file systems, and processes
• Troubleshoot complex system issues and lead incident resolution, including root cause analysis (RCA)
• Implement and maintain system security controls, access management, and hardening practices
• Support high availability, disaster recovery, and system resilience strategies
• Collaborate with database, network, cloud, and application teams for integrated service delivery
• Maintain system documentation, standards, and operational procedures
• Drive automation-first approach using scripting and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Shell, Python, Ansible, Terraform)
• Support compliance, audit, and regulatory requirements in banking environments
