Job summary

StackNexus is seeking a SysEng - Network Engineer with at least 2.5 years of experience, focusing on programmatic configuration of SONiC switches. This remote role requires expertise in GNMI/YANG and SWSS, alongside scripting skills in Python and Bash. The candidate will coordinate with DevOps for switch integration, perform on-site troubleshooting, and maintain multipath and traffic handling for routed traffic. Proficiency in Linux administration and knowledge of AWS networking will be advantageous.

Job description

Position Overview

Job Title: SysEng - Network Engineer

Total Experience: 2.5+ years

Location: Remote (base location Noida office)

Communication: Excellent

Key Responsibilities

• Programmatic iterative configuration of SONiC switches using GNMI/YANG, SWSS, etc.
• Base configuration of SONiC switches (L2, mclag, lag/portchannel, BGP, BFD, etc.)
• Configure in‑band and out‑of‑band spine‑leaf topologies, including anycast addresses, private AS numbers, and VLAN/VXLAN setup.
• Coordinate with DevOps on switch integration, provisioning (ZTP), SONiC build pipeline, and monitoring.
• Remedy Palo Alto firewall configurations and ensure proper firewall rules.
• Maintain multipath and traffic handling for routed traffic and Direct Connect, ensuring no unwanted security restrictions.
• Set up and maintain console network, backplane, and cellular connectivity for OpenGear devices.
• Document required CRUD interfaces and provide working examples; collaborate with the SingleStore team to implement functionality in Golang.
• Perform on‑site troubleshooting where required (e.g., switches, gateways, DHCP, VPC, etc.).

Required Experience / Skills

• SONiC programmatic configuration (GNMI/YANG, SWSS) – required
• FRR (OSPF) – preferred
• Light systems programming (C/C++/Go/Rust) – preferred; strong experience a plus
• Scripting (Python, Bash) – required
• Linux administration – preferred
• Virtual networking (VXLAN) – preferred
• OpenGear experience – nice to have
• AWS networking (VPC, Direct Connect) – nice to have
• Knowledge of VLAN/VNI, VRF, ACLs, etc.

Preferred Experience

• Experience configuring and troubleshooting spine‑leaf, anycast, and private AS topologies.
• Multi‑path routing and Direct Connect configuration.
• Firewall rule diagnostics and NAT (public IPs).
• Hands‑on experience with console management, OpenGear, and cellular fallback mechanisms.

Open Gear & Cellular Requirements

• Configure and maintain OpenGear OM2224 spines and IM7248 ToRs.
• Manage cellular backup for OM2224s, including budget and minimum data plans.
• Coordinate antenna extension with colocation vendor for reliable cellular signal.

Other

Coordination with DevOps on firewall integration, monitoring, and code‑driven base configuration transition.
