Job Description

A Staff Nurse - ICU is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to critically ill patients requiring continuous monitoring and intensive medical support. The includes patient assessment, medication administration, monitoring of critical-care equipment, emergency response, documentation, infection control, and coordination with the ICU healthcare team.

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients.
• Assess patients and monitor vital signs and clinical condition.
• Monitor oxygen saturation, cardiac rhythm, neurological status, and other parameters as assigned.
• Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, infusions, and treatments.
• Monitor and manage IV lines, drains, and other patient-care devices as assigned.
• Operate and monitor ventilators, infusion pumps, monitors, and other ICU equipment.
• Identify changes in patient condition and report abnormalities promptly.
• Support emergency response, CPR, and resuscitation activities as trained.
• Maintain accurate ICU nursing notes and patient documentation.
• Monitor intake, output, fluid balance, and other assigned parameters.
• Follow medication-safety and infection-control protocols.
• Maintain aseptic practices during patient care and procedures.
• Prepare patients for investigations and procedures.
• Coordinate with intensivists, consultants, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and other departments.
• Participate in clinical rounds and shift handovers.
• Maintain readiness and cleanliness of ICU equipment and patient-care areas.
• Provide appropriate information and support to patients families.
• Report equipment faults, safety concerns, and clinical abnormalities.
• Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
• Follow ICU SOPs, hospital policies, and professional nursing standards.
