Job summary

NewSpace Research and Technologies, Bengaluru-based UAV start-up, seeks an Electrical/Avionics Integration engineer to join our team and advance onboard systems integration for next-gen unmanned platforms.

Role focuses on defining assembly sequences, wiring design, and test plans, while mentoring technicians. Required are UAV/aircraft integration experience, CAN/I2C familiarity, and hands-on electrical testing ability.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with Aircraft or UAV integration & assembly.
  • Experience in avionics integration & testing.
  • Familiar with CAN and I2C data interfaces.
  • Proficient with testing tools like multimeter and oscilloscope.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support integration strategy of onboard electrical & avionics systems.
  • Aid in integration of new avionics components and payloads onto the UAV architecture.
  • Definition of assembly & testing sequence of onboard systems.
  • Assembly & testing of onboard systems as per electrical and data architecture.
  • Development of electrical design & mechanical routing scheme for wire harness.
  • Assembly & Testing of wire harness.
  • Inspection & maintenance of wire harness and onboard systems.
  • Ownership & maintenance of UAV system configuration logs, change logs, issue logs & test logs.
  • Aid in planning and execution of tests on the UAV systems.

Job description

We are a start-up based out of Bengaluru & Delhi NCR. We are engaged in development of next generation missions and technologies (NGM&T) towards future warfare needs of the Indian defence forces. It is undertaking research towards enhancing persistence and autonomy for unmanned vehicles and robotic swarms. NRT’s product development portfolio includes a solar power stratospheric high altitude pseudo satellite (HAPS) unmanned platform and an air/ground launched stand-off autonomous system.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support development of Integration strategy of onboard electrical & avionics systems.
  • Aid in integration of new avionics components and payloads onto the existing UAV architecture.
  • Definition of assembly & testing sequence of onboard systems.
  • Assembly & testing of onboard systems as per electrical and data architecture.
  • Development of electrical design & mechanical routing scheme for wire harness .
  • Assembly & Testing of wire harness.
  • Inspection & maintenance of wire harness and onboard systems.
  • Ownership & maintenance of UAV system configuration logs, change logs, issue logs & test logs.
  • Aid in planning and execution of tests on the UAV systems at various levels of Integration & Assembly.
  • Development, configuration, utilization, maintenance and upgradation of test setups for UAV systems.
  • Support design teams in component market survey and shortlisting.
  • Support Flight Testing Activities.
  • Prepare technical documentation related to assembly, integration and testing.
  • Task, guide and oversee electrical technicians.
Must have skills:
  • 2+ years of experience with Aircraft or UAV integration & Assembly
  • Experience in avionics integration & testing
  • Familiar with data interfaces, such as CAN & I2C. Their working and limitations.
  • Familiarity with testing instruments such as multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Ability to work in teams in various work environments.
  • Acclimate to the current team culture, attention to detail and good analytical skills.
Good to have skills:
  • Exposure to the formal testing process including test planning, procedure definition and report writing.
  • Familiar with typical UAV onboard components and their electrical & data interfaces.
  • Exposure to flight testing
  • B.Tech in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with 2+ years of practical experience in Assembly & Integration or Aircraft/UAVs (or) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering.
