Job summary

NewSpace Research and Technologies in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced UAV Avionics Engineer to develop advanced avionics architecture. The role focuses on software and hardware design, system integration, and testing for unmanned vehicles.

Ideal candidates will have 2–3 years’ experience in UAV avionics and strong skills in circuit design, programming (C/C++/Python), and knowledge of communication protocols. This exciting position contributes directly to the future of aerospace technology.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience in UAV avionics hardware/software design, integration, and testing.
  • Hands-on experience with flight control, navigation, communication systems, and sensors.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation strategies and ESD protection for sensitive aerospace electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Development of Avionics Architecture for UAV, including design, verification, and validation.
  • Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Collaborate with system, sub-systems, and flight ops teams.

Job description

We are a start-up based out of Bengaluru & Delhi NCR. We are engaged in development of next generation missions and technologies (NGM&T) towards future warfare needs of the Indian defence forces. It is undertaking research towards enhancing persistence and autonomy for unmanned vehicles and robotic swarms. NRT’s product development portfolio includes a solar power stratospheric high altitude pseudo satellite (HAPS) unmanned platform.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Development of Avionics Architecture for UAV, including design, verification and validation.
  • COTS component selection, functional and performance verification, AND system integration.
  • Avionics component hardware and software design, verification and validation.
  • Generate test plans, test cases and ensure unit testing for robustness, reliability and repeatability.
  • Debugging issues and resolution.
  • Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to ensure system resilience in flight-critical environments.
  • Utilize configuration management and version control tools to maintain design integrity across hardware and software iterations.
  • Support field and flight test campaigns.
  • Collaborative work with system, sub-systems and flight ops team.
  • Technical documentation.
Skill Set
  • Must Have: 2–3 years of experience in UAV avionics hardware/software design, integration, and testing.
  • Hands‑on experience with flight control, navigation, communication systems, and sensors.
  • Strong skills in circuit design and PCB schematic & layout (Altium/KiCad/Eagle).
  • Practical knowledge of software unit testing, HIL testing, and formal verification concepts.
  • Proficiency in C/C++/Python; familiarity with RTOS and driver development.
  • Working knowledge of PX4 or ArduPilot, including custom sensor integration and middleware modification.
  • Experience with Bash/Shell scripting for build, deployment, and log analysis automation.
  • Knowledge of avionics and embedded communication protocols (ARINC, CAN, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, UART, RS232).
  • Hands‑on experience with Raspberry Pi, and STM32-based platforms.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git/Bitbucket).
  • Hands‑on experience with NVIDIA Jetson.
  • Prior exposure to ISR payloads such as EO/IR (Electro‑Optical/Infrared), ELINT (Electronic Intelligence), and SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar).
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation strategies and ESD protection for sensitive aerospace electronics.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, CATIA Wire Harness design tools.
  • Prior Exposure for environmental qualification of avionics components.
  • Understanding of aerospace software standards such as DO-178C and MISRA C/C++.
Educational Requirement

Bachelor’s Degree (Aerospace/Aeronautics, Mechanical, Electronics) in Engineering. Advanced degree preferred.
