Job summary

NewSpace Research and Technologies is seeking a skilled UAV Operator based in Bengaluru to join our innovative team. Job description

Overview

We are a start-up based out of Bengaluru & Delhi NCR. We are engaged in development of next generation missions and technologies (NGM&T) towards future warfare needs of the Indian defense forces. It is undertaking research towards enhancing persistence and autonomy for unmanned vehicles and robotic swarms. NRT’s product development portfolio includes a solar power stratospheric high altitude pseudo satellite (HAPS) unmanned platform, and an air/ground launched stand-off autonomous system.

Responsibilities
  • Execute UAV flight operations in accordance with NRT procedures
  • Coordinate ground and flight operations efforts to include planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, and safety
  • Perform preflight checks to assure mission readiness
  • Maintain daily pre- and post-flight and inspection activity logs
  • Adhere to established safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure all equipment is integrated, maintained, and inspected
  • Perform minor integration and maintenance on the aircraft
  • Collaborate with coworkers on projects
  • Assist with general office duties
  • Perform related duties as assigned
Must have skills
  • Knowledge of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
  • Familiar with flying fixed-wing electric and knowledge of IC engine powered UAV platforms of various sizes; able to learn to fly the platform(s) developed at NewSpace RnD
  • Experience in flying UAVs which are hand- and catapult-launched
  • Knowledge of all applicable regulations and policies governing UAVs
  • Ability to work with a flexible schedule during peak periods
  • Ability to understand flight parameters and assess the quality of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS)
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose UAV systems
  • Demonstrated ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures and Safety protocols
  • Good judgment with the ability to react quickly to hazards
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Ability to work in teams in various work environments
  • Adaptability to the current team culture
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Nice to have skills
  • Knowledge of different Flight Control Unit (FCU) operations, troubleshooting and integration
  • Knowledge of Ground Control Station (GCS) software and capability to plan flight missions based on test requirements
  • Basic knowledge of IC engine tuning
  • Knowledge of post-flight log analysis
