Job summary

Reliserv Solution in Bengaluru, India seeks an experienced Sr. Relay Testing & Commissioning Engineer to test, commission, configure and troubleshoot protection relays and substation equipment for MV/HV projects.

You will lead training programs, support FAT/SAT/site commissioning, and coordinate with OEMs, EPC teams and project engineers to ensure safety, quality and reliable protection schemes. Strong hands-on knowledge with Siemens, ABB, SEL, Schneider, GE/MiCOM is essential.

Qualifications

• 2–6 years of experience in protection testing and commissioning.
• Hands-on experience with protection relays (Siemens, ABB, SEL, Schneider, GE/MiCOM).
• Strong knowledge of IEC 61850 and substation networks.
• Experience with testing tools such as OMICRON CMC.

Responsibilities

• Training & Capability Development (Primary Role): train new employees on protection & control systems for HV/EHV substations; deliver theory + hands-on training; develop materials and SOPs; assess trainee competency.
• Technical Support & Testing: demonstrate testing and commissioning of protection schemes (132 kV and above); configure and test numerical relays; coordinate with OEMs, EPC teams, and project engineers.

Job Title: Sr. Relay Testing & Commissioning Engineer

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Relay Testing & Commissioning Engineer who will be responsible for testing, commissioning, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of protection relays, control systems, and associated substation equipment for MV and HV projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Training & Capability Development (Primary Role)

• Train new employees on protection & control systems for HV/EHV substations
• Deliver structured training programs (theory + hands‑on) on:
• Protection fundamentals and schemes
• Numerical relay configuration, testing, and troubleshooting
• IEC 61850 (GOOSE, MMS, PRP/HSR)
• FAT, SAT, and commissioning practices
• Conduct on‑the‑job training during FAT, SAT, and site commissioning
• Develop and maintain training materials, SOPs, and standard test procedures
• Assess trainee competency and provide technical feedback
• Support knowledge transfer and skill development plans
• Promote safety, quality, and engineering best practices

Technical Support & Testing

• Demonstrate testing and commissioning of protection schemes (132 kV and above)
• Configure and test numerical relays:
• Line, Transformer, Busbar, Feeder, Motor, Generator
• Support IEC 61850-based Substation Automation Systems
• Perform fault analysis using disturbance and event records
• Guide engineers in CT/VT checks, protection coordination, and settings validation
• Coordinate with OEMs, EPC teams, and project engineers

Skills & Experience

• 2 to 6 years of experience in protection testing and commissioning
• Strong hands‑on knowledge of protection relays:
• Siemens, ABB, SEL, Schneider, GE / MiCOM
• Proficient in IEC 61850 and substation communication networks
• Experience with testing tools (OMICRON CMC or equivalent)
• Familiar with engineering tools:
• DIGSI, PCM600, MiCOM S1, SEL QuickSet
• Strong communication, coaching, and mentoring skills
