Job summary

Talent Hired-the Job Store is seeking a Power Systems Protection Relay Test Engineer in Pune. You will test and validate protection relays used in electrical networks, design test plans, and verify settings and protocols to ensure safe and reliable operation.

The role requires a BE in Electrical / Power Systems and minimum 2–3 years of experience in protection relay testing. Collaboration with multiple teams and strict adherence to deadlines are essential.

Qualifications

• BE in Electrical or Power Systems
• MIN. 2-3 years experience in power system protection and relay testing (trainings and projects not considered)
• Knowledge of feeder, transformer and motor protection relays; testing and troubleshooting

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute testing of protection relays for power systems.
• Design test plans, record outputs, and suggest solutions for issues.
• Verify relay settings, tripping characteristics, and communication protocols.
• Take ownership of development and testing projects and meet deadlines.
• Collaborate with development, testing and production teams.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

Job Purpose

As a part of Development Team, s/he is responsible for testing, validating, commissioning, and maintaining electrical protection relays used in power systems to ensure safe and reliable operation of electrical networks and equipment.

Key Accountabilities

New Product Development

Understanding various Protection Algorithms, Designing the Test plans, Recording the Outputs and Results, suggesting solutions to the Problems or bugs, Learning New Technologies to provide competitive Advantage.

Prototype Building

In-depth developmental testing of new products, Verify relay settings, logic, tripping characteristics, and communication protocols.

Testing

Testing Various Protection Relays, Documenting the Results, suggesting solutions, Fixing Issues, Updating Tools.

Ownership

Take Ownership of the projects undertaken and adhere to deadlines. Take responsibility of failure and improvements.

Necessary Functional Skills required for this job

Knowledge of feeder protection, transformer protection & motor protection relays.

• Testing protection relays using Doble, Omicron relay test kits
• Knowledge of substation automation protocols like IEC 61850, MODBUS, IEC 103 etc.
• Understanding of SCADA, automation, protection relays, type testing will be preferable.
• Excellent analytical ability, good written & verbal communication skills are must.
