Pvensightinc is seeking a Relay Setting Engineer with 3–4 years of experience for US-based utility and EPC projects. You will develop relay settings, perform protection coordination, and integrate relays with SAS/SCADA.

Expertise with SEL and GE Multilin relays and familiarity with IEEE, NEC, and NERC guidelines are essential. You will configure relays, perform testing, documentation, and coordination with SCADA/EMS/DMS systems, using SEL RTAC and related tools to ensure reliable protection

Qualifications

  • Experience with HV/EHV protection schemes and substations.
  • Hands-on work with SEL and GE Multilin relays is required.
  • Familiar with IEEE, NEC and NERC guidelines for US projects.
  • Experience in EPC/utility transmission projects in the US is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate protection relay settings for HV/EHV substations (69–500 kV).
  • Perform protection coordination studies using Excel, Mathcad, and ASPEN OneLiner.
  • Design and review protection schemes for transmission lines, transformers, feeders, and busbars.
  • Configure relays using SEL AcSELerator QuickSet and GE EnerVista.
  • Work with SEL RTAC for relay communication, data concentration, and control logic.
  • Prepare relay settings calculation reports and MS Word documentation.
  • Support relay testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Relay Setting Engineer with 3–4 years of experience in HV/EHV substation protection systems for US-based utility and EPC projects. The role involves relay settings development, protection coordination studies, relay communication, and integration of relays with Substation Automation Systems (SAS)/SCADA. Hands-on experience with SEL and GE (Multilin) relays is mandatory. Familiarity with US standards such as IEEE, NEC, and NERC guidelines is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and validate protection relay settings for HV/EHV substations (69 kV, 115 kV, 138 kV, 230 kV, 345 kV, 500 kV).
  • Perform protection coordination studies using Excel, Mathcad, and ASPEN OneLiner.
  • Design and review protection schemes for transmission lines, transformers, feeders, and busbars.
  • Configure relays using SEL AcSELerator QuickSet and GE EnerVista software.
  • Work with SEL RTAC for relay communication, data concentration, and control logic implementation.
  • Prepare relay settings calculation reports and documentation in MS Word.
  • Support relay testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Verify protection schemes including breaker failure, auto-reclosing, and interlocking logic.
  • Review SLDs, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
SCADA / Substation Automation Responsibilities
  • Integrate protection relays with SCADA/EMS/DMS systems.
  • Configure and validate IEC 61850 (GOOSE, MMS), DNP3, and Modbus communication.
  • Perform signal mapping, I/O checks, and database validation.
  • Develop and validate communication schemes using SEL RTAC.
  • Coordinate with SCADA teams for alarms, controls, and data acquisition.
  • Support end-to-end communication testing.
Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of HV/EHV protection schemes including distance, differential, busbar, and transformer protection.
  • Knowledge of breaker failure protection, synch check, and auto-reclosing.
  • Hands-on experience with SEL and GE Multilin relays.
  • Experience with SEL RTAC configuration and relay communication.
  • Familiarity with fault analysis, ASPEN OneLiner, and disturbance record review.
