Job summary

Cosy is seeking a Product Design Engineer to evolve its modular indoor farming system from concept to production. You will own the mechanical evolution across CAD, prototype, testing, manufacturing and field feedback, driving reliability and cost efficiency for the Indian market.

Responsibilities include mechanical architecture, 3D modelling in SolidWorks, DFMA, sheet metal and plastics design, and coordinating with fabricators and suppliers.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics or related discipline.
• Approximately 4-8 years of hands-on product-development experience.
• Experience taking physical products from CAD into manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
• Comfortable working with fabricators and suppliers.
• Evidence of having reduced cost or simplified an existing product.
• SolidWorks experience and rapid product evolution awareness.

Job description

Cosy is building modular indoor farms designed to grow fresh produce directly where it is consumed.

We’re looking for a Product Design Engineer who can take our current farm system and engineer its next generation - not simply make drawings.

You will own the mechanical evolution of the product from concept → CAD → prototype → testing → manufacturing → field feedback → redesign.

Your objective is straightforward but difficult:

Your mandate is to turn our current farm into a world-class, production-ready product - engineered for reliability, manufacturability, serviceability and scale, while achieving an aggressive cost structure suited to the Indian market.

The goal isn’t simply to make the product work. It’s to make it simpler, smarter, more robust and dramatically more cost-efficient with every iteration.

What You’ll Own

• Mechanical architecture of Cosy’s farming units
• 3D modelling, assemblies and production drawings in SolidWorks
• Design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA)
• Sheet-metal, fabricated structures, plastics, insulation/enclosures and other manufacturing processes
• Mechanical integration of HVAC/cooling, water systems, pumps, tanks, lighting and electronics
• Material selection, tolerances, fits and component specification
• Design testing, failure analysis and iterative improvement
• BOM simplification and aggressive cost engineering
• Designing for reliability, cleaning, maintenance and serviceability
• Technical coordination with fabricators and component vendors
• Reviewing manufactured components against engineering drawings and specifications
• Supporting installations and field troubleshooting when engineering involvement is required
• Maintaining organised CAD, drawings, revisions and engineering documentation

Who We’re Looking For

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics or a closely related discipline
• Approximately 4-8 years of hands-on product-development experience
• Strong command of SolidWorks
• Experience taking physical products from CAD into actual manufacturing
• Strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes
• Experience developing prototypes and solving problems on the shop floor
• Strong mechanical fundamentals and practical engineering judgement
• Comfortable working directly with fabricators and suppliers
• Evidence of having reduced cost or simplified an existing product
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where the product is still evolving
