Job description

Sr. Mechanical Engineer – MV Switchgear

This is an individual contributor role suitable for Mechanical Engineers with 5 to 7 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Custom mechanical engineering of MV GIS.
• Preparing mechanical bill of material based on electrical/customer inputs using standard designs.
• Design custom assemblies based on custom requirements, in case of non-existence of standard assemblies.
• Completing all the projects with expected quality.
• Completing projects within the specified schedule.
• Working on process improvement projects.
• Provide virtual technical support for the shop floor for the projects engineered.
• Take up stretched assignments as and when needed.

Required Competencies

• Mechanical design engineering knowledge.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and assembly.
• Knowledge of sheet metal operations and processing.
• 3D modelling and designing experience in ProE/Creo (Part, Sheetmetal, Assembly, and Drawing modules).
• Ability to train other engineers in the team on Creo software.
• To work in a virtual environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to interact with Electrical Engineers, Customers, Project Managers, and Trainers to seek design solutions.
• Team player and able to work in a multicultural team.
• Good interpersonal and customer relations skills.
• Hands‑of experience in manufacturing, or having worked closely with manufacturing is an added advantage.
• Hands‑on experience in adaptation projects.
• Designing and manufacturing experience in sheet metal is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of switchgear design, installation, and use.
• Ability to interpret basic front elevation, one‑line, and schematic drawings.
• Experience in localisation of product/components.
• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with 5 to 7 years experience.
• Specialisation in switchgear manufacturing process is an added advantage.

Preferred Competencies

• Hands‑of experience in manufacturing, or having worked closely with manufacturing is an added advantage.
• Hands‑on experience in adaptation projects.
